No structural damage only the edpm roofing. That was 13k plus labor. Rubber roofs are not patched. They are only replaced. So with the labor and peripheral parts like gutters, trim etc, it came to 21k.Re: Rubber Roof ReplacementGetting my edpm roof replaced as we speak. Insurance is paying Ca dollars and it is just short of 12k. Mine is getting replaced down to the wood. I don’t know if the layers are individually replaceable or if they are bonded together as one. That could be the difference in cost (5k vs 12k). I looked at two providers and the price was about the same.Re: tire wrenchI carry a gorilla wrench. Thin wall fits all……… Also carry a socket for both tv and trailer and a 1/2” 24v impact.Re: 40 or 45 ft 5fer, any differenceMoving down the highway, length is not a problem. The challenge is fueling (have to stick to truck stops or a very open stations), entrance roads to rv parks and maneuvering within the rv park. My rig is 42’ and pulling with a SRW CC short box Ram 3500. So I have a decent radius. My problem is I have nearly 16” of rear overhang. Tail swing on my rig is horrendous, as is many of the larger rigs in this size range. Even though I realize it is present, it has still bitten me in the @ss three times now. So, look for the shortest rear over hang as possible no matter how long you are. If I could do it over again, I would look in the 10-12 overhang area. Even a 53’ box van big rig only has about 10’ of overhang with about a 72’ overall length. King pin to rear axle length is also a consideration. The longer that measurement is, the more room you need to turn that combo. Larger rigs are challenging to say the least, and some rv parks are a bit unforgiving. I drive a 63’ transfer truck for a living and don’t have as much trouble with it as I do my 57’ of rv and truck. Good luck on your quest. And safe travels.Re: manual retraction of slidesOn a hydraulic system there is a manual override mechanism you attach a drill/driver to and run it in. Same for the stabilizers as well. Got big problems if you are there however.Re: Batteries not holding charge ???My last set of Costco (interstate) batteries lasted 8 years. Try a hard charge for 3 hours and cook em off at 15-16v. May help de-sulfate them. Put a kill switch in for storage and put a charge on them every few months. The electronics and propane detectors will draw them down to a low level which causes your problem. Those are very good batteries for what they are. And the price is right. Here is a chart that gives you an idea of charge state. Keep in mind you don’t want to go below 50% of a charge on a flooded battery. Good luck..... Re: Stuck Caliper PistonI always use the old brake pad to center the pistons to push in. Works every time....Re: Rent a Truck to tow a 5th Wheel or GooseneckJust pay someone with a 5th wheel or gooseneck. Hotshot or commercial hauler will do it. Or maybe a friend can do you a favor and you can help them out.Re: RV furnitureE Trailer has furniture. I got a Thomas Pane sofa. They had a pretty good selection too.Re: Rear Storage Mod. Roger10378 wrote: It looks nice. My concern would be the amount of weight you have added way at the back. You need to get to a scale and make sure you still have at least 18 percent of your total on the pin. Otherwise it may be very unstable driving. I haven’t weighed it. Just pulled it over 1000 miles. Was as solid as before. I figure the washer in the overhead closet up front pretty much compensates for the weight change. I did not think about any ventilation. I’ll have to re-think the propane tank storage. Maybe some long line adapters from front tanks and skip the spare.
