I felt really bad for him and his wife. about an hour after things calmed down I said to them both " In 3 years this will be funny" 2 years in it's not funny yet. Maybe next year. I hope the guy had no Ill effects from this happening to him and maybe in 3 years it will be funny for him to. If he got sick from it ,,, It will never be funny. And those guy's were first class jerks for letting him do that with no saftey gear. Like I said I hope he was ok and can laugh it off in the near future. It will make one hell of a story he can tell. But that's just me.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Thank you all for the warm welcome. I didn't see that coming. At this time were finding ourselves totally petless. Not even a fish, I've always had a fish tank. Our last dog was Tippy a Mix Terrier/chihuahua/beagle. And my best friend. She would wait everyday at the door with her ball, waiting for me to get home. How I miss that girl. But we have had the privilege of having our GrandDog for the last 6/7 years staying regularly at our house. And all summer long, Oh ya the 3 grandkids came too. Lol We miss them all as they recently moved to South Carolina. Ya they took the dog...Oh his name is Squirrel he's a mix Mini Black poodle/ chihuahua. An he Loves his Grampa. First thing we did was play ball. He comes flying across the room an leaps into my lap. He thinks he's a flying Squirrel. LOL I'll be checking on the Tennessee gathering to see if we can make it, I know we would love it. Again thank you for the welcome. JerryRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}This is hard for me to wright. I wrote you a note earlier today and told you about my daughter and her family moving to Piedmont. I have been at this, reading this for several hours. A Thousand pages or so. It's as if I time warped back into the past. You see for me, You just got Old Fella a few hours ago. As I read through the story. And fell in love with this dog I never met, and the people that made it happen. But for me Old Fella Just passed away a few minutes ago and I can't see the keyboard clearly. I apologise for even bringing all this up but I'm compelled to let you know how much this meant to me. Your story and Fella lives on through this forum. It has touched me deeply in ways I can not express. I look forward to meeting you someday. If not here then on the other side. What a day that will be. I'll stop for now as my words do no justice to how I feel right now. This is my feeble attempt at expressing myself. Thank You for sharing all of this. Jerry F.Re: Anyone keep their B plugged in for winter storage?Trimetric monitor fancy stuff. I got this. I wired an on off slide switch to it. Mounted the whole thing under the dash so I can see it. Mostly its annoyingly bright so I turn it off. Not to fancy but at least I can monitor the voltage.Re: Anyone keep their B plugged in for winter storage? This looks real good. I looked at there video and specs. I also did a search and found on for 179 dollars. Not to bad. Now my only problem is I hate fixing something that's not broke. My converter is old but it has never given me a problem. So do I do a preemptive strike, or wait till it goes bad. In the mean time I may plug the camper in for a day just to top off the battery. On a side note I don't have a camper battery just the main , I removed the camper battery. I'm going to relocate it rearward. It was in the engine compartment but it was a very small emergency lighting type battery. I want bigger so I have to move it somewhere. Oh thanks for the INFO and the link.Re: Anyone keep their B plugged in for winter storage?I have wondered about this also. My 1988 xplorer has the original converter. I can see on my battery monitor it is charging when plugged in. ( a dash mounted volt meter I installed) But this old converter seems to charge at a fairly high rate. It's probably not a maintainer. I sure don't want to cook the battery. Should I put it on a timer like one poster said? It's really cold here in N E. Illinois.Re: So much for stealthFunny side note: My Title is for a Dodge B-350 Van If I wanted RV plates I would have to provide proof this is indeed an RV. Here's what Illinois say's an RV must have. A motor home, mini-motor home, or van camper displaying Recreational Vehicle (RV) license plates must contain at least four of the following six equipment items: 1) a cooking facility with an on-board fuel source; 2) a gas or electric refrigerator; 3) a toilet with exterior evacuation; 4) a heating or air conditioning system with an on-board power or fuel source separate from the vehicle engine; 5) a drinkable water supply system that includes at least a sink, a faucet, and a water tank with a an exterior service supply connection; 6) a 110-15 volt electric power supply. If a van does not meet the RV equipment requirements, the applicant should purchase either passenger or B-truck license plates, depending on the design and use of the vehicle (625 ILCS 5/1-145.01)." I had no Idea, Illinois can be a real pain.Re: So much for stealthA recreational vehicle is defined as "Every camping trailer, motor home, mini-motor home, travel trailer, truck camper or van camper used primarily for recreational purposes and not used commercially nor owned by a commercial business" (625 ILCS 5/1-169). Your probably right . My mistake is that it's road restrictions , Such as the Dan Ryan in Chicago RV's are prohibited as are several streets in Chicago, any thing labeled as a Boulevard. Our mobile home park is an example, Unless your the Police Chief, Don't even try to park it here. They do allow a Friday night over so you can load up and leave. But an overzealous cop could use this against you. So ya I must have misunderstood. Or the Cop was just being a smarty pants.Re: So much for stealthIn Illinois my Van is registered and plated as a Van that's it. I live in a mobile Home park. Strictly forbidden to park an RV in our park. But a Van , No problem. Oh an get caught driving an RV as a daily driver and that's a ticket. RV's are for Recreational use ONLY. I have know idea how they would know, (Rv plates are bright Orange) but, If it's illegal I'd rather not be doing it. Don't matter they'll never know. Oh and RV plates are way cheaper in Illinois.Re: You've got to see this 1953 Vagabond!Yes International Harvester TravelAll the pictures are not theirs but it is what they drove. And the Airstream is newer than theirs. But you get the Idea.
