I am so sorry that after you put your heart and soul into that endeavor, that you had to step back. It must have been a very difficult decision, but with your medical issues, you really didn't need the stress you were experiencing. You and Sue are very special people and have gone thru a lot with this animal rescue work and if you had to stop today, you've already done way more than anyone could expect. Thank you.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard, I am confused. I must have missed some posts a while back or something. What is happening with the land that was donated and the Old Fella rescue center that was going to be built? I thought that was going to be an animal shelter also? Is that on hold or something?Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}ladymc53, I am so sorry that you have to make decision that you have had to make. Sometimes I think people forget that when you are a couple...there are circumstances that both people have to agree on what to do and sometimes compromise is what you have to do. You are showing your love for Cy by trying to find him a good home...if not, you would already have taken him to a shelter and not worried about what happened from there. Yes...there are circumstances where someone might have to give up a beloved pet. I faced that same decision a few years ago. I was lucky to find an elderly couple, the gentleman was in a wheelchair a lot of the time and my little 10 y/o coco rode around on his lap most of the time. He was still able to drive and every day he took her bye bye, even if it was just around the block cause she loved to go bye bye.... Good Luck on your search. I pray you get as lucky as I did.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I watch that Alameda East on the animal planet all thetime....ER Vets I think it is called....awesome what they can do sometimes!!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Ok..my nomination is in....GOOD LUCK to Richard...got my fingers crossed!!Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}I have seen our own Katie do this. I heard that certain grasses will make them upcheck and they do this to purge themselves. I have had to clean up after Katie has upchucked and it would be a lot of grass. then she acts like she feels better.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story} dogdiva wrote: Richard I shall be anxious to hear more information about this doggie because I would like to adopt it,. Looks to me like there is an offer on the table already for a forever home with someone that already has experience with a physically challenged dog. She is probably already aware of what she is going to look like post surgery and also knows what kind of commitment and post op care is going to be required.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard, if you are interested in another opinion and don't mind traveling to New Orleans, there is a world renown retina Specialist there named Dr. Kurt Gitter. When the National Eye Institure in Washington DC was asked who was the best in the world, they gave his name. He is also my retina specialist.Re: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Thank you Richard and Sue I'm thinking of all of you tooRe: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}Richard, is there a vet school in your area? I know there is one in Baton Rouge at LSU. I knew someone that had cataract surgery for her furkid at a greatly reduced fee. You might want to check into that possibility.
