All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: RV Site UP Michigan - Finger LakesSampson is a nice park. In the immediate area are a plethora of Wineries, and distilleries. The former Seneca Army Depot has White Deer tours,The LDS church has the Peter Whitmore Farm in Waterloo if you are interested in the history. Geneva has become somewhat of a foody destination. Taughannock Park is also a nice park although older and tighter than Sampson. Has the highest single drop falls East of the Rockies. Ithaca with Cornell is 8 miles South.Re: 2022 Trip Planning- Advice for NewbiesVery open question. Depends on your mental makeup. We almost never make reservations, except at our destination. On the road our normal SOP is to pull into a Wal mart or whatever about two in the afternoon use their WIFI to find a nearby campground. We avoid interstates like the plague, and have dropped any pretense of efficiency and just putter along, stopping when the spirit hits. The only time a clock comes into play is watching check out times. In the West, winds come up in the afternoon so you want to be flexible about getting of the road if it becomes to gusty. Don't over plan, be flexible. You are not mounting an expedition to Mars so pretty much anything can be overcome. Drive slow and smile. Of course number one rule with a trailer is, "don't enter if you cannot see a way to exit" (of course if you are a type A, none of this applies)Re: Las vegas mittshel wrote: The Oasis is best. If you stay at Sams Town make sure your stuff is locked up really well. Even then bikes are stolen on a regular basis. What make you say that? We've stayed at Sam's four times in the last few years. Never a problem. Did you have a bike stolen? a private gripe or actual reports of crime in the resort? I have heard that Circus-Circus is a real circus at night, but having never stayed, I cannot attest!Re: Gas Engine - Fill It UpIt sometimes takes patience. I am 53 ft. I don't mind being "rude" and positioning myself as needed to fuel up. My wife doesn't mind directing traffic. Almost every tight spot is caused by a motorist thatt is not cognizant of his surroundings and willing to make the necessary concessions. We take only as much time is needed to run the card, fuel, and acquire receipt. If we have any business inside the establishment I pull away from the pump. In all of our miles of travel the times we got jammed up at a fuel stop can be counted on one hand!Re: Sold RV and toadWhy are fuel prices a reason? Prices go up they go down, just depends on the "crisis of the week". Fuel prices are the last reason I would give up this lifestye.Re: More garbage that'll get us ALL banned from National ForestsThat is not a camp site. That is a squatter site. Entirely on the forest service plate hers. No way was this accumulated in 14 days. Forest Service needs to monitor much more closely.Re: Tire recommendations for pick up truck for towingI,ve run Cooper AT3. Had them one set on my previous truck and two sets on this one. First two sets were D rated really liked them. Latest set is "e" just because they were in stock. These also perform like a champ, just a bit stiffer. I have no argument with Michelins, But they are like John Deere or Kubota,a superior product, but not by enough to rate the premium that is charged.Re: Should I cover my tires?Look at all the people saying yes. Without exception from lower latitudes with higher temperatures and more direct prolonged sun. Those in more moderate climate are ambivalent at best. I have a '39 Ford 9N. Has Firestone tires that were mounted in 1939. One of the front single rib tires may also be original. They are weather checked, have cracks, but still function as designed. Tires on Rv's trailers and motorhomes have a recommended drop dead life of five years. I can't imagine that modern tires would self destruct from sun rays in five yearswhen 80 year old rubber formula has kept my tractor tires in shape for 82. Now if you have parked your trailer on a permanent site covering may have some slight advantage. Non use is as big a killer of a tire as any other abuse.Re: EV's I know there are folks better versed than me in here wanderingaimlessly wrote: I keep seeing articles like this LA buses 3/4 million dollar vehicles that dont/cant work. Other articles showing that in hilly areas, the brakes dont work in part from attempts to capture energy stopping function, other cities having problems too, Minnesota To invest big bucks into one as a personal vehicle , without the ability like these cities to bring back a retired Diesel to handle operation while the electrics are being continually repaired just seems crazy for all but the insanely wealthy. If you have a problem with EV's, don't buy one. Why you gotta stick your nose into the tent,if it ain't your tent?Re: Looking for new motorhomeā¦I think that you need to look at as short of an overhang behind the rear axles.
