Question is with regard to the spare. I know the best thing to do is replace all 5 with the same tire. But, does it make any sense to replace the spare with a cheaper tire or leave the existing spare on (zero miles on it), with the thought that it would only be used until I can reach the next town?Re: GVWR versus GAWRThanks for the replies. I'm kind of a numbers nut and I knew the axles weren't adding up to the GVWR. Never thought about the weight on the hitch. That is definitely the answer. I also knew they built to the bare minimum. Now on to the bank for a second mortgage for tires. LOLGVWR versus GAWRI have a Grand Design fifth wheel. Getting ready to replace tires. While looking at ratings, I noticed I have a GVWR of 13,995#. My GAWR shows to be 6,000# each. The UVW shows t be 10,828# - not relevant to this question. Wouldn't I be limited in Gross Vehicle Weight by the two 6,000# axles (12,000# MAX)? If so, wonder why they would not use 7,000# axles to match the GVWR?Re: Quad Steps fj12ryder wrote: Flip a coin and buy the ones that fit. :) Just stay away from the ones that fold up into the doorway. Those suck big time. We love ours. They are adjustable in length and very sturdy. I clean them with a broom/shop vac prior to folding them up. If they are wet due to rain, we clean as much water off as we can, then put towels inside to soak up the drips. Clean up floors when we get it back in storage.Need advice on selling hitch and adapterHope this post is OK. f not, I will delete it. I posted a little on this a while back. Upgraded from a RAM 2500 to a RAM 3500. The 2500 had rails installed and my Patriot Slider installed. The 3500 has pucks. I purchased the Reese puck adapter and used my Patriot a couple of times. Wasn't real comfortable, as the setup would sometimes make a fairly loud popping noise on take off or on stopping. I was able to find a good deal on a used Companion with RAM pucks and now use this set up. Now I need to sell my Patriot and the adapter. I have had both listed on Facebook Marketplace for a while (this is where I found the Companion). Also, broke down and listed on Craig's List, as some on this site advised. In 2-3 months, I have had one spammer inquire about the hitch. Also, advised I would consider reasonable offers. Zero interest. Any other thoughts? There is a small resaler near me that seems to turn over between 3 and 6 RVs on a regular basis. I plan to stop and talk to them and see if they ever have anyone needing to buy a hitch when they buy trailers. Thanks,Re: B&W Patriot / Companion Hitch question MFL wrote: Same design, but quite different. Nope not interchangeable. Jerry ThanksB&W Patriot / Companion Hitch questionHas anyone put the B&W Patriot head on a Companion base? It appears as if B&W now makes a Companion Slider and maybe no longer makes the Patriot. They look very similar in pictures. Curious if the heads are the same.Re: Tires---OuchJust do like I did and get free tires. Had 36,000 miles on my 2018 RAM 2500 and about 4,000 tread left. Just bought a 2021 RAM 3500. Tires are like new (5700 miles). :)Re: Selling Fifth Wheel Hitches - How ToSent you a PM. Thanks,Re: Hope this is OK for this forum - DEF question Lantley wrote: I quit using the jugs and fill with DEF from a gas style pump at the fuel station. It's cheaper, but more importanly there is no dripping or spilling. I was excited when I learned about the possibility of being able to pump. I live in a Houston suburb. Did a search and the nearest station with DEF at the pumps is about 20 miles from where I live. There are only 3 within a 50 mile radius.
