What is the useful end of life before requiring overhaul or replacement? How many of us go beyond 300,000 miles to see the end of life? Yes the engines work harder but putting the proper tool to the use is the key. My 2011 EB engine pulled my 7k TT just fine. Did it matter that it worked harder than the newer 5.0 Coyote engine? Maybe. Did that make a difference to me? No. Either way I loved the power when needed and economy when it was there. Would I pull 10,000lbs? No. So far I do not hear of these engines breaking down prematurely. It would be interesting to see the engine repair rates against normally aspirated engines that do not include accessories and appliances including turbos.Re: Squirrels ken56 wrote: Isn't taking small game out of season illegal? Not in self defense. :BRe: Gas can mount on top of spare tire on back wall of trailerThe only thing I have seen is a fold down shelf in the back on certain campers....I forgot the make and model but that would be a mod that goes beyond what you have done and perhaps what you need. The campers in question if I remember correctly do not have a pass through cargo and that is where the cargo is strapped down and carried. Here is a link that you can see what I mean.Re: SquirrelsI stayed at Ft. Desoto and noticed a plethora of squirrels and birds on the roof. Even think two holes were started by birds, none the less I bought a plastic owl at Home Depot and put it on a pole near the roof...the problem quickly disappeared. Perhaps a few near your rig would help.Re: 2018 f150 max tow packageI had a 2011 with a payload about 1700lbs. I towed a TT short under 7,000 lbs and had it weighed, added 950 to tongue weight. Tho I was solo you should be just fine.... Agree with Cummins above, insure you have good tires on truck.Re: 110V air compressor for 5'er?Looks like you spent your Amazon card but I had a Harbor Freight, only needed 80lbs. It was much handier to have one aboard than to go to the coin op places like you mentioned, especially when winterizing the unit and adding a few pounds here and there... Nice unit!Re: New F-150 with 13,200 lb tow rating!Any chance you can trade in for a higher payload truck? I know you will take it in the pocket book but the benefits will far out weigh (no pun intended) the money spent. As some of the posts above me say....you are out of payload unless you go with a very small TT, under 5000lbs fully loaded (6000 lbs is pushing it). Here is the quick math.. Assuming 13% of 5000lbs fully loaded your 13% hitch weight will be 650 lbs... Same assumption for 60000lbs...= 780 lbs. All this assuming 13% and no more...etc. An 8,000lb TT will yield 800 to 1200 lbs taking up your payload. Something to think about.Re: Is your spare tire mounted on little tee nuts? Check it outNice catch and repair!Re: Travel trailer / tow vehicle combo question Slowmover wrote: An Ex is more capable than any pickup. Design matters, and the Ex has two attributes — short rear overhang plus fully independent suspension — that make it the far more stable choice. Pickups are rollover prone. Always a bad choice unless solo business needs require it. ... Based on an article dated May 2018 Clicky The Expy only got 2 of 5 stars while 2 PU's got 3 of 5. Not sure how you came to that conclusion. Albeit the auto manufacturers are working to get better ratings, they still have a way to go.
