Where do I start my research?Maybe wait unti the fall Hershey show so that you can get a look at all the different options by manufacturers that are out there and even if new is out of your price range you still might find what to look for in the used market.Re: fresh water tank keeps drainingSince there are two of them could it be the low point drains?Re: Why 2 tent beds and not just one on all HTT's?Here is one from Coachmen. I have seen them on Ebay but have not seen one in person yet. http://www.coachmenrv.com/products/freedomexpressul.aspx?page=floorplandetails&floorplanid=5460Re: Waiting at the Rainbow BridgeHailey 9-11-2009, 1-13-2014 You couldn't spell two words in front of Hailey with out her knowing what we were talking about B-A-L-L and C-A-M-P. I'll miss her forever.Re: Water Heater Always OnThanks for everyone's replies. While winterizing this past weekend I decided to cut off the plug to the water heater and install a new cord cap with the polarity reversed to make the black wire hot (120V) in the water heater. While doing this I pulled the covers to the element and thermostats and the switch out to check for any shorts to ground and to check for continuity to asssure the internal wiring for the heater was correct. One thing I found was that the wire that went from the plug to the water heater was not color coded but had a tracer molded into the wire to identify the nuetral so I guess that was an easy mistake to make during the construction of the trailer. Once I found there were no shorts and the heater was wired correctly I plugged in the new cord cap and the water heater worked as it should. I am definitley going to keep my eye on it but I know if it malfunctions again it should immediately trip the breaker or go out on the reset button. Thanks again.Re: Water Heater Always OnWell it is official, I will be pulling my water heater in the spring. I pulled the white wire off of the element and with the breaker on the white wire has 120volts to ground. The black wire has no volts with the switch on the outside on or off. I even took the cover off of the thermostat and found no voltage there. I have unplugged the water heater and turned the breaker off. Even though I believe that it has worked fine for the past three years no sense in taking any chances. The water heater still works fine on propane.Re: Water Heater Always OnIt is a Suburban water heater. I don't have another switch for the 120volt side besides the one on the outside of the heater. I am positive the switch was off checked the switch several times. I can't access or even see the 120volt junction box or thermostat with out pulling the water heater, which is my last resort. When I get home from work I will try a couple other things. I went out last night and double checked polarity on the camper and the outlet and both were fine.Re: Water Heater Always OnI pulled the receptace that the heater is plugged into and it has the correct polarity. I have everything plugged in the same way I have been doing it for three years now, same outlet on shed, same extension cord, same adapter. I checked the polarity of the GFCI in the bathroom as well and that was fine.Water Heater Always OnToday I replaced my on board water filter with a Shur-Flo accumulator. Once I was done I plugged the camper into house power and noticed that the water heater came on. I went outside and checked the switch and it was off so I unplugged the water heater and of course it went off. I plugged it back in and checked power at the element, I have 120volts on the white wire and no voltage on the black wire, 120volts across the element. I then pulled the wires off of the element and tested for short to ground, none and Ohms across the element 10.4ohms. I pulled out the switch and it works as it should. I know for sure it hasn't always been like this because I would have melted the element by now. The thermostat and junction box is only accessible if I pull the whole heater. The gas side works fine and is what I will use if I can't figure this out before this weekend. Any help would be appreciated.
