They told me their Ferndale location is too busy for recertification. Anyway, both locations are about the same distance from the border.Canadian Propane Tank Recertification in WashingtonMy 10 y.o. 30# DOT propane tank needed recertification to be refilled. The quoted price I got in Lower Mainland BC was more or less like a new tank. I had it done a couple of times at both sides of border years ago IIRC the cost was insignificant. So I have it done in Washington state for $5 with a tank refill. They will charge $10 without a refill. What it involves was a visual inspection, leak checking of the fitting and a new label says visual requalified. It's good for another 5 years. I know the recertification in Canada requires a new valve and it was no more than $20 years ago. I just wonder if this tank can be refilled in Canada again. Due to the cost saving of refilling in the states, most of my propane refilling was done south of border. Has anyone had similar experience?Re: Blank Screen on Coleman Mach Digital ThermostatUpdate: Today I decided to take a voltmeter to poke around the thermostat to see if there's actually a power supply problem. Found a manual online and identified the color of the +/- 12VDC connections on the circuit board. There's 13+V across the blue & red wires. Took the circuit board out from the casing to see if there's anything obvious like loose connections or pinched wires. No luck. I reassembled everything together and prepared to throw in the towel. I thought to myself since I only took out the onboard fuse & visually inspected it last time. Why don't I check it's continuity with the ohmmeter meter and it's not blown. However, when I reinserted the fuse back in, miracle happened. The digital display works again. Only explanation I can think of is it reset itself after power off long enough.Re: Blank Screen on Coleman Mach Digital ThermostatThanks dougrainer for the advice! The last time I used the trailer was in August. It wasn't hooked up to shore power and had battery disconnected since. I was prepping the trailer for a trip last weekend and noticed the blank screen on the thermostat. When I switched on the fan manually it worked so I assume there's 12V power supply to the thermostat. Anyway, I will try poking around with a voltmeter to see if I can get anywhere. Disclaimer: I'm no expert in electronics. When I bought my last Tsat on Amazon.com, it was pre-pandemic and we shopped cross-border and it costed me $50 USD. Exchange rate was quite favorable to CAD then. Since the pandemic shut down, most of the mail collection services on US side has gone out of business. The latest asking price on Amazon.ca (Canadian site) was $285 CAD. With sale taxes and possible import duties and/or brokerage fee added, it could cost a lot more.Blank Screen on Coleman Mach Digital ThermostatI replaced my original analog thermostat with a digital one a few years back. It was much easier to operate except it didn't last. (Assuming blank screen means end of it's life.) The price on Amazon.ca for the same unit shows 5-6x what I paid for before. Options are: 1. Buy another analog one which costs about the same as the last digital one. 2. I was told a generic brand digital thermostat sold at Walmart can be had for a reasonable price. It might need dry batteries to operate. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!Re: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD Tires Hi guys, here are my new Endurances. Manufactured on 26th week of 2020. About 3 months ago.Re: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD Tires Thermoguy wrote: I thought I could get away with my 7 year old Marathon tires this year as well. Found out that I couldn't. 2 of the 4 had major bulges and had to be removed on the spot. One blew on a trip, but I can blame that on the shackels braking and not the tire. But, the point is, and everyone on here will tell you, 7 years is too long for a trailer tire. Where are your 2 bad tires located? The one failed on mine is at the right front side and the diagonally opposing one also showed signs of belt separation. The other 2 still looks good with a bit of tread left. Everyone here is talking about replacing trailer tires every 7 years. My last set of Marathon still looked good after 19 years when I sold off my last TT as a reclamation project. These Marathon were made in Canada in the '90 though. We didn't travel enough to wear them down to get new tires. We keep the pressure up on every trip, park at home out of the sun and keep an close eye on them for dry rot or uneven wear pattern.Re: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD TiresThe price I was quoted was CA$938 for 4 including 12% sales tax, installation, $20 Environment Levy but no wheel balancing. (That's another topic for another day). With today's 1.33 exchange rate, it works out to US$ 175 per tire out of the door. Tire Rack listed $133 each which works out to within a few $ of local list price. Besides, buying online & ship across to border is not economical. A lot of online merchandises get free shipping in the states will cost an arm and a leg shipping across the border. I was to hold off until next season that we can travel farther before I get a new set of tires. One of these barely 7 y.o. Marathon developed a slow leak from belt separation last weekend. I used the spare to get home from 100 miles away. Because we have a very nice fall weather this year, I thought we shall take advantage of the next few weekends camping. But travelling without a spare is not an option thus the new tires.Re: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD TiresI was told they are in stock in a local warehouse. This is Western Canada. Trailer tires could sell slower than the eastern seaboard. I will check the manufacturing date tomorrow to see how old these stocks are. After reading some of the replies above, I wouldn't be hesitated to use Carlisle HD if Endurance is not available. The same dealer sells them too.Re: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD TiresI have looked into Amazon for pricing and found that their Canadian site does not have the best price for Carlisle.
