All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsAngry wannabe RV police encounterSunday July 7 we were driving south on US 101 below Yachats Oregon. If you are not familiar, it is narrow and winding with no passing lane for a stretch. The suggested speed signs for the curves are 20-40 mph and I took them at those speeds. There are a few spots where an RV can pull over and stop if you see it in time and it is not full of cars with people enjoying the view but they are small. I'm certainly not a road hog and have used turn-outs often and stay right on the hills. I think it was about a 30 minute section and even in my wife's sporty car you can't take the curves much faster than posted so I figured I would be good. Well this guy apparently didn't think so. We pulled into a grocery store parking lot and he drives up and signals to roll down my window. He then immediately says "I'm an RVer and you give us a bad name, real bad." He also called me many other names which cannot be printed here. I stayed calm and told him I was sorry about the incident and apologized for slowing him down. This only seemed to anger him more and he said he "Ought to get out and whoop my ass." First time in 4 years of owning a TT I've seen anything like it.Re: Floor and furniture weight limitThanks for all the input, feeling less concerned now.Re: Floor and furniture weight limitI get what you are saying classic. Just thinking more people equals more dispersion. But also guessing you think it will be fine.Floor and furniture weight limitI searched as many ways as I could think of with no relevant results. I have a 2015 Springdale TT. The sofa is in the slide which is fairly deep, I'm guessing at least 3 feet. One of of my daughter's boyfriends is a pretty big guy. Maybe 275 plus pounds? Anything to be worried about as far as steps, furniture etc? Or are these designed with the possibility of bigger people. I don't want to sound harsh, but also don't want him to fall through the dinette or something. By the way he is a great guy. :)Re: dash Radio in MHCan you post a photo of the existing radio? I should be able to give you some ideas on what's there and what might fit. Some GM built models are 1.5 DIN. I've also seen many motor homes with non standard radios.Re: Slide blows fuzeI have seen slide fuses in the panel on a Surveyor. And it was a 40 amp.Re: F150 5.0 vs TundraOne more real world experience for you. I have an '08 Tundra with about 70k miles. It has only needed one set of tires and brakes along with oil changes. No other repairs needed. My trailer weight is 5600 and no issues towing that. Mileage is around 10 while towing and 17-18 not.Re: Oregon Coast allen8106 wrote: I highly recommend Cape Blanco State Park. We spent 4 nights there this past July and it's an excellent place to stay for a few days. Only issue is that they don't take reservations. First come first serve but in April I would doubt that is a problem RedRocket204 wrote: Expect rain and wind! Possibly sideways rain. 9 years living 2 blocks from the ocean on the north Oregon coast allows me to state the above with extreme confidence. But, in all seriousness, if you do decide to hang out on any of the beaches, always keep yourself faced towards the ocean and be on guard if the swells are large. Spring can still produce large swell events and MANY people have been swept off their feet from an unexpected rouge wave... never to be seen from again. I grew up around oceans, surfing most of my life and have seen many, many people who do not treat the ocean as though it can be a killer. Yep, it can be very windy at Cape Blanco. And do watch out for the waves. A week or so ago a man and young child were washed out to sea. The Coast Guard and sheriff's department never did find them.Re: Whats the status of NEW RV Park in Medford OR? stevekk wrote: We tried to get RV camping with hook ups during the music festival. The lady told me over the phone $3500. That includes tickets. But seemed like a lot. We did get VIP ticket plus parking. Will just drive everyday. That was probably their super luxury type package where they bring you all your meals and drive you back and forth to the venue. I think that is the only camping with hookups. The regular camping pass was still expensive, $300 if I remember right. I bought it last summer. We went to all three at Cape Blanco. It is nice to have a place to go between acts or if there is one I'm not into.Re: Whats the status of NEW RV Park in Medford OR?I stayed there a couple months ago for 3 nights. Not many others there and it was very quiet. I did have muddy feet after setup since there was only dirt between spots. Sounds like that has been remedied. I have tickets and a camping pass to music festival. They actually moved it from here on the coast so they could fit more people. But it was just rows marked in a field for dry camping.
