From Little Rock, AR to Boston, MA and back Me, the wife and 5 kids (ages 10, 9, 3 yr old twins, 6 month infant) In a travel trailer pulled by a Yukon XL 16 days We are making many stops to break it up so we aren't just driving the whole time. Some places we are staying multiple days. Nashville Washington, DC Lancaster, PA NY Boston Niagra Falls Columbus We are looking forward to it, but I know it's going to get exhausting. We are staying at campgrounds each time to give the kiddos some outside time. Wish me luck!Re: Accessory port options??There is nothing plugged in there now, and nothing came with the camper. There is also no lights in the slide part so it gets rather dim at night. No way for the wife to lay in bed and read a book. In this pic, you can see the white outlet at the top where something plugs in, but there's really no where to mount anything. http://www.apachecamper.com/uploads/inventory_images/F1J50071/2015-jayco-jay-feather-ultra-lite-x254-3.jpg I figured I could get a light as in my first post, and remove the mounting brackets and use some velcro to attach it to the ceiling. Just seems odd that Jayco would manufacture something that you can't really use. Or i'm just missing something...Accessory port options??I've recently bought a 2015 Jayco x254 where the bed slides out the rear. On the ceiling right before you get to the slide there is an accessory port where something plugs in. I've found only 2 options for this plug: Light https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/RVIM46.html Light/Fan combo https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/RVFL51.html Are these the only options? If this is it, then it seems kinda silly why my new camper would come with the outlet but not the actual light. I've had the light in a previous hybrid camper (Jayco Kiwi 17A) and it attached to a rod that held tent fabric up, but my new camper doesn't have any kind of rods to mount the light too.Re: RV Camping for family with > 6 Veebyes wrote: Claim one of them as the family pet. I'm sure a few of them would qualify lol. I finally found a place close to where I wanted. Had to go outside of the Good Sam parks though. But found a cheaper place that looks really nice.Re: RV Camping for family with > 6And thanks for the feedback so far! I'm a newbie to this forum and I appreciate the help. A lot of forums these days are full folks who only like to trash on people. So far this one is going good!Re: RV Camping for family with > 6 Merrykalia wrote: In Virginia State Parks, the rule states "Developed campsites can accommodate six people per site or all members of a household." That rule makes sense, and that's how it should be everywhere. It's just getting frustrating calling all the places in the area we plan to stay and they all say no. So I'm just getting farther and farther away from where we plan to go because of some rule meant to keep partying down to a minimum. So far all of them that I've called I already have to pay per person, but they won't allow over 6. Do places actually check? Would it be worth the risk of just booking it and showing up? Playing dumb if I get caught?RV Camping for family with > 6I have 7 people in my family. How can I "legally" stay somewhere when the maximum occupancy is 6? :? I've had a camper for several years but I've only gone to the local state parks, in which they don't check the number of people on your campsite. This year we are hitting the open road for the first time. I've been looking around at various RV campgrounds and they all say maximum of 6 people. I am married and have 5 kids, so there's 7 of us total. One of the kids is bringing a friend on one of our planned trips. My camper sleeps 8 comfortably and there's no issue with room. So my question is how am I supposed to camp with more than 6 people? I've read rules in Canada, and they state that the max doesn't matter if its the same family. But I've called several places in the Texas and they are all sticking to the 6 person limit and don't seem to care to turn away a paying customer. The only think I can think of is to hide a kid during registration and lie to them. Any ideas? Seems like a pathetic rule. I know rules usually have good reason, but they become pathetic when they aren't implemented correctly.
