The 5'er kingpin has a Lippert adapter thing that looks like a single piece of metal pipe that is welded to the 5'er. We back the truck up with the ball under this pipe thing and lower the front jacks so that the pipe fits down on the ball. That's all we have.Re: Intermittent jerky towing of 5th wheelI don't know what a puck system is, sorry. We have the B&W turnover ball hitch but the dealer didn't install any U-bolts in bed of truck. I will try to find the video, Hannibal. Still, why the smooth ride home with new trailer then rough ride now? didn't add any real furnishing to it, just a suitcase. One person suggest asking RV service dept to hitch something to our truck and see if it tows same way. I guess would need to be same wt and hitch wt?Re: Intermittent jerky towing of 5th wheelI might have added 50-100 lbs of stuff to the second trip but it would have been aft. One issue that concerns me with the turnover ball is that they didn't install any U-bolts in the truck bed. The ONLY thing in the bed is the turnover ball hitch. We are newbies but we did test the truck after engaging the hitch by extending the front jacks to "lift the truck bed" and it did do that. Is there anything else with a turnover ball that we could be missing? The gooseneck attachment is a "Lippert"? placed on the kingpin of the 5th wheel. (if this makes any sense). I am wondering if we should replace the breakaway brake? But, when it popped off it gave that error message on truck console, so I think it's working ok. Mud in tires? That should just give a rough ride till the mud falls out. It just has intermittent jerking, if that sounds like anything to y'all.Re: Intermittent jerky towing of 5th wheelWe looked at the tires. Although muddy, no damage was noted. The service center pulled the RV with their two trucks without any issue....so I'm thinking it's not the tires. I'm having to look in the manual for all the fuse locations. If you can point me to a website or video re: the fuses, I'd appreciate it.Intermittent jerky towing of 5th wheelBear with me: Bought a 2016 Denali diesel 3500 HD SRW truck then an Open range light 5th wheel. Bought a B&W turnover ball hitch. Pulled camper home, no problem. Ran over bush and into light mud. Turned corner and kicked out the breakaway brake pin. Pulled camper another 1.2 miles without knowing problem. Reinserted pin, RV released. Parked it for 2 month. Hooked up last week and headed out for dry run trip 7 miles away. Noticed jerky, intermittent tugging as we towed. Thought brakes issueso n RV, etc. Took RV to service and they found no problem. Towed it with two of their vehicles, one old, one new and said it towed just fine. QUESTION: could there be an issue with the truck? It drives just fine without RV in tow. Hitch seems to be engaged ok. Could a fuse be blown in the truck? We have appt on Monday to take truck to dealer before heading out on 400 mile trip later in week. Ideas? Suggestions? (no warning lights on dashboard came on. Brakes and turn signals work on RV when towing. Looked underneath and all seemed ok). Thanks for any advice on things to check out.Re: Dewinterize Chalet ArrowheadExcellent reply!Re: DewinterizingWe are making our dry run/ shake down trip next week in a new winterized 5th wheel. Can someone point me in the direction of a youtube or just a check off list of what to do when we get water hook up at the camp ground? i.e., steps to dewinterize ? Thanks!Newbies interested in PEI and Cape Breton this summerWe are NEW!! Have a 32' 5th wheel and 3500 diesel truck. We'd like to drive from South Carolina to Cape Breton and PEI this summer. Round trip looks like 4K miles. Wondering about time of year to go, we'd like to miss the snow and ice. Summers are hot in SC so we don't mind a chill in the air. Please direct me to any advisory forums or send personal advice. Thank you so much.Re: naples fl to hendersonville nc...avoid highwaysThere is a nice campground called Twin Lakes between Anderson, SC and Clemson, SC. It has some pull through sites. You can detach and drive into Clemson to see the Naional Championship Football trophy and tour the university. Lake Hartwell is the lake where Twin Lakes is located. Highway 11 in SC is the scenic highway along the foothills of the mountains. Some state parks along that route. Have fun!Re: Breakaway brake pin is stuck and can't be removed easily.Hello. I am responding to my own message. When we unplugged from shore power and inserted the power plug from the hitch into the power supply in the bed of the truck, the pin in the breakaway assembly became easier to remove. Does this make sense? A friend says the breakaway system is designed integrally with the TV power supply. Comments?
