It is about 30ish minutes from Holland and about 1 hrish from St. Joseph. Private campground, very clean and kid friendly. http://www.triponds.com/ We have also stayed at Dutch Treat in Zeeland, which is Holland's city neighbor, would be a further drive to St. Joe though http://www.dutchtreatcamping.com/Re: Another season has endedI have considered camping later into the fall but I have a fear of the chilly night air sending the youngest GD into full blown respiratory illness, which are very common for her in the winter. I hope you all enjoy your fall/winter trips, just think of me up here freezing and a 3 & 9 yo impatiently waiting for May. :) Be safe out there.Re: Another season has ended dave54 wrote: For many people we are now entering the best season for RVing. I know and I'm so jealous of that!! Hubby isn't a camper either, so I'll never be able to convince him to RV, so I will forever be camping in the wonderful state of MI.Another season has endedWe have finished another season of camping. We end every season with our Halloween Camp with family and friends. Had five families camping and another group who showed up for dinner and trick or treating. All together, about 40 people, somewhat smaller crowd than years past. It is my favorite weekend all year. I believe it is my 3 YO granddaughters favorite weekend too. Her and I walked up to the showers about 7:30am Sunday and she said "Mum, I'm ready for next years Halloween Camp. How long do I have to wait?" It makes me happy that both my granddaughters love to camp. Their mama isn't a huge fan and my 16 YO loves it as much as I do, but with her job and marching band filling her summers, her time is limited. I now have the next generation to enjoy it with and couldn't be happier!!Re: My truck turned over 150,000 miles today....Nice!!! My old truck was a '00 Silverado 1/2 ton, 4X4. I sold it to my SIL in 2013, had just rolled 400,000 miles. My husband laughed at me when he offered to buy me a "new" '02 Yukon, I didn't want to sell my beast, I wanted to get it to 500,000 before I got rid of it. **** kids getting bigger!!!!Re: silverado 1/2 ton with 5.7L V8I pull my 20 ft with the "mom-mobile" 02 Yukon with a 5.3L.Re: Canadians driving in USAI'm moving to Canada! I will be able to drive 110 mph on a narrow, gravel highway... Ahhh nevermind, just realized I live on a 1.5 lane road and some idiots already do 110 mph..... I'm glad I don't have to pay to repair their front ends.Re: Disaster averted but barely. Thanking the good Lord above.Had that happen to me years ago. Had just left the tire shop after getting four new tires installed. Was busting down I-69 at 70ish mph, felt the awful wiggling going on, pulled over, every single lug nut was loose on all four tires. Tightened them all back up, called my husband and brother, before husband could call store, brother already did....boy, did they get an earful. Haven't set foot in that store since. First thing I do after I get new tires or tires have to be removed for other repairs, is check the lugs every 100 miles or so, for a few hundred miles. Glad your all safe. Certainly is scary!!!Re: Michigan SP in October olcoon wrote: Last summer we stayed at Dutch Treat in Holland. Nice campground. x2 on the Dutch Treat. Have stayed there several times and I'm never disappointed.Re: Whatcha doin this weekend?Took the kids camping last weekend. This weekend is considered "ok let's get our S*&^ together for school" which starts Tuesday. Really bums me out though. Took me all summer to master the "sleeping in" thing. It felt good sleeping until 7:15 the last three days. Oh well, as my dad always says, "There's plenty of time for sleeping when your dead" Whether your staying home or traveling, everyone enjoy your weekend and be safe.
