All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: awning tension railsA few years back we would go to the rgv and stay 5 months. A neighbour had awning bows 4 maybe 5 on his awning. Very windy were we were. He never had to take his awning in, in any wind. The two on either end were maybe 12-14 inches from the ends and the rest spaced across.Re: replaced the reclinersJust a heads up for info. We are replacing two euro type recliners with ottomans. They were Benchmaster and were very nice. Unfortunately they are made in China and have faux leather. In the humidity of Florida etc the covering is pealing off the foam pad underneath. We may price out recovering them with micro fiber but I will never again buy faux leatherette. Otherwise they were very nice recliners.Re: Winnipeg to Florida in FebruaryThat's because they have summer tires all year round as they rarely get snow. We always used to wait until we saw no more signs that said bridge ices over before the roadway"Re: Going Through AtlantaWe came thru Atl. in early Nov. Stayed north in Acworth for an o/n and left early 800am. Promptly ran into an hour delay just south of Acworth. Breezed thru downtown at 70mph after the stop and go and then hit another 1.5 hour delay on the south side. Stopped in Valdosta as it took so long. It's a **** shoot due to construction/accidents. But do stay in the middle lanes and go straight thru town.Re: Atlanta GA or Chattanooga TN at 0600 on Sat. Morning?Been thru both going north from Florida. Chattanooga was fine about 0930 on. It is pretty straight forward especially if you have GPS to keep you in the right lanes. Atlanta we have gone thru 2x once on Sat. early and once on a Sunday about 1000am. Both time traffic was steady but light with no hang ups. This was thru the middle. You can always drive in the HOV lanes as well.Re: 8840 questionThey don't care how many times you come and go. If the border guys, who have all your dates let you in your in. IRS is only concerned that you spend less than 182 days in the US to meet the Substantial Presence Test or they want some of your money. Taxes etc. We have filed the 8840 for 10 years. I use the year (2014) as the last year. When I do 2015 it will be done and mailed from the US (in 2016 Feb.) so I will count 2015, 2014 and 2013 as the portions. I also carry a spare copy (last year) with our passports as I was once asked by the border guard if I was aware of it. I mail it in the US as it runs Jan 01/2013 to Dec 31/13 etc. Postage is 47c in the US vs international rates from Canada. I have never entered anything in the Visa section as I am a tourist. Visa types are for workers or those staying longer than 182 days. I also have never heard boo from them in 10 years. Canada and US now have an agreement to track your time so do not over stay your time, as of July this year both sides will show your entry and exit date. If you go over for even a day or an hour to pick up a parcel you have to count that as a day in the US.Re: Worlds Fist Camper ?LOL let the discussions begin. I wonder if that is a ladder/step at the back or a JT strongarm or maybe a tailhook.Re: Favorite floorplans for FWOur present unit has dining (major) windows on passenger side so we only see our site not the neighbors. I also recommend being able to use the bed and bathroom with slides closed. If you find one you really like be sure to close the slides and see what you can use and what you can't while closed. We also like a totally enclosed shower/toilet arrangement. Each is a personal choice.Re: Suggestion to rv manufacturers.......Be nice as well if they went to residential stair spacing instead of a 10" step. Changed mine over this winter to 7" riser. Big difference for older people.Re: Looking for App where I can select miles per day.A stated..Streets and Trips. Always on your puter even w/o wifi available. Start point, one or two mid points and an end point. Click on directions and it shows the actual road miles. Any mid point can be moved to anywhere along the route...300 miles just move the mid point. All exits are mile marked..
