We picked up 101 in Sonoma, stopped in the redwoods, found the Oregon coast to be spectacular. Stopped at Coos Bay, we were steps away from the ocean. Lots of great scenery and wonderful places to stop. The road is very good as has been stated before the small towns will slow you down so don't be in a hurry. I had no issues with the curves or grades. Just hard to keep your eyes on the road when you're surrounded by gorgeous views.Re: SRW needing airbags? ford truck guy wrote: Our 2015 350 SRW pulls a heavy fiver... I had bags from a previous truck that I put on when new... BUT the truck is level without air in them... I suggest to wait till after the first tow to see.. Side note... the published pin weight is worthless... take the GVW and times it by 20%.. that will get you closer to the true pin.. Great pictures! I am considering an F350 for my next TV, I'm still not sure about the DRW or SRW but I like the way yours looks with the trailer hooked up.do you happen to know what your pin weight is?Re: Ford suspensionAs the OP I was trying to be as clear as I could be about what I was asking. I am totally surprised that the Ram guys chimed in with unsolicited opinions. I put no worth in any of their information, as I had already made the decision on GM or ford. I needed real info from real Ford and GM owners not opinion from the peanut gallery. I again wish to thank all the Ford and Chevy guts for your time.Re: Ford suspensionAgain, let me say that I appreciate all the replies and information! Been following along closely and have come to the following conclusion. Both Ford and Chevy will do the job with no issues or concerns about the suspension. Next I have to make sure that there is sufficient space for my 150 pound dog. I took out the rear seats of the current truck so he can travel comfortably. Thanks all!Re: Ford suspensionI appreciate and respect all the Ram fans inputs, but your wasting your time! I've had both Ford and GM trucks both have been great and trouble free. I will buy one of those brands this year. I like the drivetrains on both, what I need are inputs from ford guys on their experience with the suspension. I am mostly concerned about the sag. But based on some of the inputs, if I decide on a 350 DRW it becomes a non issue with my stated weights. 2140 pin weight and 10460 trailer (loaded).Re: Ford suspensionAgain thank you for the inputs! I will be checking out the F350 as well as the chevy 3500 in the near future. I have decided on the DRW due to the fact that my present truck is a DRW and I love the stability and extra element of safety that provides. In the last 10 years prior to retirement I worked for GM dealers as a heavy line and transmission tech, I therefore feel very comfortable with the GM product. I learned that Alison transmissions are indestructible, the Duramax is very expensive to repair. I have never been a Ram/Dodge fan, the Cummins is a great engine but I feel that the rest of the truck is cosmetic and they are not built to last like a Ford or Chevy truck.Re: Ford suspensionThanks for the inputs! This will definitely mean that I will look at the Ford. This is a huge decision so I want to be as informed and aware of the pros and cons of both brands prior to ordering.Ford suspensionI'm researching new tow vehicles (Chevy and Ford), I currently tow with a 2001 Silverado 3500 DRW, 6.0l with a 4l80e. My trailer has a pin weight of 2140 with a trailer weight of 10,460, this is loaded for a two week trip including 1/3 full water tank. I'm not concerned about towing, I'm concerned about the sag or squatting I hear about in the Fords. I'm concidering a Ford F-350 or a Chevy 3500 both DRW. I don't want to drop $50-60k and have to upgrade the suspension. I would like to hear from Ford guys about their experience. Thank you!Solar awningJust replaced my solara awning and find that when I retract the awning it wrinkles as it gets closer to fully retracted. Does anyone have any ideas as to why or what adjustments I can make?Re: Emigrant Lake, ORThanks for all the inputs! We have made reservations for a couple of nights at the lake for our trip there and back. We don't boat, fish, or gamble, we just like the solitude and scenery of the lakes and the mountains. We he the lake will have some water for our lab to swim in. Thanks again!
