Take care and travel safe.Yuma to Jamul - route 94 or I8Need recommendations on travel to Jamul (pio pico TT) from Yuma. Anyone pull a 5W over SR 94 the past year or two? Would love to take the route but I hear there are lots of sharp curves and high climbs, perhaps it's best to take I8. What is your experience? Thx, TNPRe: I10 to YumaThanks 4 your response tahiti16, and yes I'm aware 72.4 miles west of Tucson I10 splits with I8 west towards yuma and SanDiego with I10 NW towards Palm Springs and LA. My question is more specific about overnite secure stops, not necessarily RV parks as I'm traveling thru, in TX and NM and east AZ? My tentative stops will be, fort Stockton, las cruces, Tucson, then on to yuma.I10 to YumaIn 3 days we'll be headed west from Austin to Yuma taking I10. We plan on traveling approx 350 miles per day, it will take us 4 days. Any suggestions for overnite secure stops along the route?Re: Travel with side ladder attached?I leave mine own the TH, at first I was a little concerned, watched it often in the mirros, but after about 2 months on the road I'm more comfortable driving with it. Some semi's will get close but by far most stay away. Plus I use it to temp mount my Wineguard carryout when parked, I don't leave it on the roof when traveling, no that wouldn't be good. And I don't want to mount the dish on the roof due to some sites being covered by tree's. You might consider installing the collapsible ladder mounts, seems to save about 2" but not sure where to find them. Good luck!Re: TT elite membership - is it worth it?Cabanaman ------- a quick question for you. I see you are retired military, does that give you access to military bases for camping? I'm a honorably discharged veteran, not retire military, would I also have the access to camp at military bases? If so, how do I find the bases that have the camping? thanks in advance, Terry YOUR REPLY............ Your dues will be closer to $600 once you get all done.Still worth it doing 200 nights a year.We do at least that. Our time out is done at military bases.Re: Stand alone starting battery for generatorI have a 2013 FR 40' XLR 395AMP and plan to do the same for similar reasons. I plan to add an (1) extra battery for the house power and add another (1) extra battery for the Lippert Leveling system and Oman 5500 Gen. I want this battery separated from the house power for same reason. For a total of 2 12v batteries for house power and 1 isolated 12v battery for Gen and Lipper system. At some point, I may plan to add solar panels to supplement onboard power to limit Oman use. Any help with direction or electrical diagrams would be helpful. thanks in advance.......Re: TT elite membership - is it worth it?Thanks for the replies, much helpful. Old-Buscuit - $950 for CC/RPI plus the $10+ per nite fees is ok but I think the TT plan I mention is better with zero day fees at any TT reserve. Not sure how many days we'll use the TT reserves but likely 100 to 200 days per year, that easily pays for itself in 1 year. The other days will be traveling outside the TT reserves and likely using the CC/RPI for $10-$20 per nite. Path1 - My contract states 120 days advance booking, this will help with busy and popular reservation times, such as summer when school is out and winter when snowbirds fly south. Cabanaman - $1500 is a good price but it likely does not includes the $750 transfer fees, my cost already includes the fees, plus the 3 weeks in and 120 advance booking are big advantages with zero day fees (except for $3 for 50amp). So far no one has convinced me to run away from the supposedly bargain so I move closer to likely taking the plunge and purchasing. For those in the TT reserves I look forward to possibly meeting you some day..... cheers and happy trails! How do you handle Internet Services?I'm looking for ideas on how to best handle internet access. Do you rely on a campground to provide it, I have not had the best experience with both access and speed. How about you? Do you have a Verizon Jetpack or similar with another carrier? The data plans for these are expensive if you're 'surfing the web' like most of us do. Although access isn't bad in most locations near population of course. Do you have a Hughes satelite dish or similar? The hardware is expensive but monthly fee's are reasonable. Or do you 'shop for free access'? Although not convenient it certainly is cheap. thanks for the feedback, cheers!TT elite membership - is it worth it?Just looking for feedback on your experience with TT. I've heard a bunch of comments, both positive and negative. To help me decide, I'd would like your thoughts, please only share factual comments, appreciate your response in advance. I plan to start full time RVing in 2 months. Thru a broker I have found a TT Elite membershiop under $3,000. This membership supposedly sells for around $10,000, so it sounds like a pretty good bargain. 80 plus resorts, 21 nites in, can go from resort to resort year round, annual dues $549. Can terminate membership after 3 yrs with no penalty or keep paying annual fee's. I'm told the membership can be resold for about $1,000 after 2 years but will only include 14 days in resort. Membership also qualifies for RPI for only $89 dues per year and only $10 per night for these resorts. So, what are your thoughts? Should I invest in this opportunity or run away from this supposedly bargain?
