I would rather pay higher prices for the parts than be gouged on shipping. I wanted the 4-pc swivel rings w/clips and 3 sets of pins - a handful of items. I know these would fit into a small Priority box and shipping would be less than half the website quote. I emailed through their website to see if they could ship for less, but no response. Since is is a family-run business, and I read so much on rv.net about their great CS, I thought they might be willing to help me out, or at least reply and tell me NO. I am locked in now to Poles and Holders unless I want to make another flag pole investment. I just bought this one in July. Luckily I wanted to have these parts as spares. When the time comes that I need these parts I hope I can find them someplace else. I do wish I had researched this more before purchasing. Shame on me. There are other makers/distributors of fiberglass flag poles. Unfortunately the sizes are not the same, so I can't use their swivel rings. It is a good flag pole, but great CS? I don't see it. I agree that no one likes to be ripped off on shipping but have you actually shipped anything lately using UPS, FedEx or the USPS? Rates are high and continue to climb. I use UPS for just about everything I ship because they are convenient, although a little more costly. I've had customers ask me to use USPS Priority Mail to save them money but to do so I need to visit the post office even though I can prepay and print a label online in advance. This is not convenient for me and my time is worth something to me. And you may be right. USPS may not be convenient for them, but a reply to my question would have been nice. Communication is a large part of good customer service.Re: Flag Pole Suggestions jackxclan wrote: http://www.polesandholders.com/home.php While I do like my Poles and Holders flag setup, I find that their shipping for replacement parts is too high. So everything I use would normally go to the landfill. I don't use these to start charcoal fires fire cooking, just in case there is any scent left. I don't think a steak would be very tasty with a hint of Festival of Trees.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI just got my husband to hang 2 of these 6-glass stemware holders. They are great! Glasses don't even rattle while driving. http://everstillrack.com/Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosOur trash can is not in the cabinet, only the tennis ball is. I had the trash can in a cabinet for a while in our previous RV. But then I gave it up for the storage. louiskathy wrote: The logical place for our trash can is in front of the fridge but it's really hard to find a short/wide waste basket with a lid that is only 13-1/2 inches tall (so the fridge door clears it) but still is wide enough to be useful. (We use grocery bags inside.) Bed Bath and beyond has one online right now but not all the stores carry it. I use two eye hooks and a bunge cord to secure it to the wall under the fridge door. I'd love to put it inside the kitchen cabinet but I just can't give up the storage space under the sink for a wastebasket. Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI found a way to keep our kitchen trash can upright while traveling. I use an 8-gal can with a 13-gal trash bag with a drawstring (cinch sack). After inserting the bag into the can, I fold the top of the bag over the outside of the can. I positioned the can where I wanted it to be, against a cabinet. I grabbed the bag hanging on the back side of the can, pulled it tight, and slipped it between a cabinet door and the cabinet opening, on the hinged side. Pulling the bag through to the inside of the cabinet, it formed a pocket. I put a tennis ball in the pocket (inside the cabinet) and shut the door. The tennis ball keeps the bag from sliding through, and the bag holds the trash can in position. I don't know how well this will work if the trash can is full and heavy, but we empty the trash often.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI just wanted to share my snack set-up. The only drink holders we had for the driver were indentions in the center console's pull-out table, which are not only too far away for the driver to safely reach, but they will not always keep a drink upright in a moving vehicle. We also wanted something convenient so the driver can have a snack and a place to keep it. The basket and the plastic containers came from The Container Store. We can easily remove it when we need to lower the window. The folding drink holder is screwed to a small square of wood that was painted black, and is held onto the glass pane with enough industrial Velcro to completely cover the wood. The wood was one of those pre-cut craft pieces from Hobby Lobby. It has been in place for 4 years and has never come loose. There is a sticker on the glass on the outside to hide the glue side of the Velcro. When not needed I pushed it to one side and everyone thought it was an original part of the camper. When closed it completely closed off the bedroom/bath area. We do this too, except instead of pushing the curtain to the side, we take it down, roll it up and shove it into a closet. We only use it when we have guests. They know where I keep it so they can use it when they need it too.Re: Show your mods!! The built in soap dishes that come in the shower area are the worst. There is no place to put a small bottle of shampoo & when you try to place a bar of soap it quickly slides off. I've seen some, but not like what you installed. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, and happy camping. I've gotten them at Home Depot and at Camping World.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos OLYLEN wrote: Saw the using of wet wipes for spit baths but there is a better product, learned this from a intimate look at the medical community(near heart attack). Rite-aid has hospital wet wipes, there bigger and thicker plus being designed for the bath. When dry camping we use them as they are big enough for a total body wash and have some body order killer that really leaves one feeling fresh. Still gotta figure out washing the hair though. LEN Hospital supply stores should have a waterless shampoo for hair. It's not perfect, but it does an ok job. It will at least get the campfire smell out and let you feel fresher.
