Over a couple years now, with no more problems.Re: 3.5L V6 of 5.0L V8I agree with 2112......Re: New Airstream GlobetrotterBeautiful but way too much $!Re: Should I use cruise control while towing a travel trailerI use mine like most, on flat roads but for up and down situations, I don't. Also run Tow/ mode always. F150, 5.0 liter.Re: Looking for a truck...I have a half ton 2014 F150 and pull a 4200 dry Keystone Hideout. It has a 5.0 liter, works good but from what you are planning and your rig weight , I would also go with the 3/4 ton.Re: Bar HarborI agree with Steve, Schoodic campground is very nice. No showers but water and power. Only a few miles from Winter Harbor, nice, quaint town.Re: Tell me about the Camp Ground you Can't Wait to Go Back toSchoodic Woods Campground in Acadia Nat. Park. Opened in 2015, clean, new, no sewer but water and electricity with 20/30/50 amp service. Near Winter Harbor, cool, quaint town. About 90 minutes from Bar Harbor. We were there in Sept. of 2015. Grassy Key in Marathon, Fl. is a beautiful, clean, centrally located RV park with awesome views of the Gulf. Like someone else mentioned, so many terrific campgrounds over the course of 40 plus years of camping......Re: Glacier/Grand Teton/Yellowstone NPs - what to do?In Glacier, I didn't notice anyone mention - Going to the Sun Road. This is a must but it's slow and I wouldn't tow anything. Bring lunch, pull over at a scenic spot and enjoy. One of the most breathtaking rides of my life!!!! See Jenny Lake in the Tetons. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is a great hike that is easy but beautiful- the waterfall is terrific. That area of the West is my best if I have to pick one.....wish I were going!Re: to reserve or not to reserveWe hate to make reservations also. Hate to have to rush to get to a place planned ahead of time if something slows us down or we find a nice location on the way. And if you make a reservation and the place is not what you expected, oh well, you are stuck. Seeing is believing and so many parks/campgrounds are not so comfortable/clean. Now if we know the place because we have been there and also know we can make it within time, we will book it in advance. Common sense rules here.....Re: What was your first RV noob disaster (or near disaster)?Way back in the late 70's we had a Datsun Pickup ( Orange, remember those, 4 cylinder) and. 13' Chalet pull behind. We were in Washington State and a friend from the area raved about a campsite in Olympic National Park but it was up a mountain, secluded on a rock road. We're young and strong, and love secluded sites so off we go. Wife in the middle , I'm driving and our friend riding shotgun- tight cab! About 30 minutes up the road I'm now in 2nd gear and climbing slow. Can't remember when I shifted into first but my heart was pounding and when I had the gas pedal to the floor and we stopped, I knew we were in trouble. Did I mention the road was one lane? And looking over the edge of the road was , ugh, scary! Put on emergency brake, standing around outside thinking , now what? You guessed it, me and my friend unhook trailer while my wife places a big rock behind the driver side trailer tire and after several moves and what seemed like hours, the trailer is now facing downhill so I get the truck turned around and barely get passed the trailer and running off the cliff, hook up and GTF out of there!!!!! Must have been a great campsite...... I thanked GOD for days !
