It has quad bunks in the back and the two on the drivers side are bigger. I would check the Cougar 32BHS. It looks like a good floorplan with 4 bunks and has the extra crapper/sink only in front for Ma and Pa. KZ has a similar floorplan but it only has three bunks. I would check out Jayco as well. What do you currently have for a truck? It would be nice not to have to trade.Re: Quality Coachman Chaparral 29BHSWe also looked at the 29BHS but ended up finding the same floorplan in the Cougar 320QBS but cheaper due to being a used unit so we went that way. I did like the Chapparal though, especially the lower profile. I like the way the floor opens up on both sides. You will have room in there to hold a square dance if you wanted!Re: Comparing Half Ton 5th WheelsWe ended up finding a used 2014 320QBS Cougar that is the same floorplan as the 29BHS Chapparal. We only took a two night trip with it before we had to put it away for the winter. It seems like a good unit but I did like the lower profile of the Chapparal. We will give the Cougar a proper test in the spring!Re: 5th wheeler bunk housesI also forgot to mention that given the option, spec 16" wheels instead of 15" wheels if possible. It is a mathematical fact that the bigger tire makes fewer revolutions per mile hence less wear on both bearings and breaks. More capacity too.Re: 5th wheeler bunk housesWe were looking a new Chapparal 29BHS as well and liked the unit. I saw a used Cougar 320QBS which is almost identical that we bought for $26,000 (2014). We went with the used one for price reasons but I liked that the Chapparal was a lower height for less wind resistance. I would not be afraid of the Chapparal at all. We only got a short two day trip in our Cougar before it was stored for the winter but we like it so far. I would take a good look at the KZ Sportsmen and Durango both. They have a two year warranty (as does Jayco) so that tells me that they have more faith in their product.Re: New Coachman Chaparral lite using Azdel Composite Panels. We are also looking at the similar 29BHS and was wondering the same thing. I will be hanging out watching for answers too! We are also looking at a Cougar 320QBS which is the same floor plan but on 16" wheels and more water capacity.Re: Comparing Half Ton 5th WheelsHello Allimax. We are looking at a Cougar 328 QBS (2012). It is a regular model instead of a half ton but has only two slides and is not too heavy. I like the 16" wheels on it too.Re: Comparing Half Ton 5th WheelsHello Laknox. I did look at some of the Durango models. They have a nice looking bunk house with a half bath for the parents. I was only wanting one bathroom to conserve weight and to keep it simpler (more fittings equal more leak opportunities! They are a good looking unit. Like you, the 2 year warranty is a selling point. It seems they have some confidence in their product.Comparing Half Ton 5th WheelsI have not been researching it long but we are looking for a good quality 1/2 ton 5th wheel (to be pulled by 2500) with a minimum 3 bunks (but prefer 4) We are looking at light because I want a physically smaller unit. Based on what we have looked at so far for floorplans, the following grab our fancy: Jayco 29 bhok Jayco 29 fbds Chaparral 29 bhs Sportsmen 301 bhk Volante vl310bh (I believe this may also be the Rezerve rfz-31bh How would you rank these units in order of quality of build? Thank youRe: Light 5th wheels vs "regular"Thank you Starcraft69. It sounds like you put a lot of miles on it which is good. I like to do at least one long road trip per year. Did you upgrade to the 16" wheels or did you stay with the 15"?
