The warranty that comes with is only a power train warranty. It doesn't cover fluids, shocks or bushings. It definitely doesn't cover anything on the coach itself. Mine needed new shocks, a couple new bushings, and all the fluids replaced which added $2500 to my overall purchase price - I accepted this reality. However - after the purchase - it was discovered the fresh water tank has a small leak the result of which is mold in the storage area under the bed and under the floor of the shower. We tested everything when we purchased and were pretty thorough but we did not bring a square head screw driver with us and remove panels for a deep inspection. Heck, I had no idea the tank was under the bed until I discovered this issue. The leak also caused the door to get damaged as it soaked up the water on the bottom (wedging it in the frame) and ripped apart when opened. Fixing the tank, cleaning the mold and replacing the door is going to be expensive and the silence from Cruise America is DEAFENING. I'm now in the Buyer-Beware camp for this company - unless they magically start responding.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?I was looking around at local credit unions but I wanted to one-stop-shop at CA. Sales guy is motivated to sell RV's so I let him do that work. First quote he got me was high and I said I wouldn't even drive up to look at the RV at that rate so he pinged two other institutions and got me a rate lower than my local credit union could so I went with that. I made sure there was no early-payoff penalty as I intend to pay off within 2 years.Re: Frame ExtensionI'm doing this very thing shortly. There's a couple shops in my area (Tacoma WA) that do this very thing. I'm upgrading to a 10k hitch as I will be pulling a 7500# enclosed trailer. With the frame reinforcement + class IV hitch, one place quoted $1600. With your application and low amount of tongue weight it's doubtful to be an issue. The primary reason for reinforcement/strengthening is the lever affect from the tongue weight.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? Thanks Ichabod. All fluids will be replaced since they couldn't produce actual maintenance records only a carfax and a list of what happens in the refurb facility. For those of you with these CA vehicles I have a question. The LED bulbs inside are that AWFUL blue light. Has anyone replaced the LED bulbs inside and what type are they and what's a good place to source them? I want ones with a warmer color.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?First post since joining. This thread helped narrow my search. I'm taking delivery next weekend on a 2012 27g from Cruise America. Drove well but before I even use for the first time I will be getting an alignment and new bilsteins along with an upgraded trailer hitch. The interior of the CA homes are not my preference however the overall value is. I'm primarily going to use this as a tow vehicle for the race car so I can be more comfortable during race weekends. The 2012 E450 with the GCVW of 22k is what appealed to me and when we were scoping it out we spotted a lot of minor things that needed to be addressed of which they took care of. So other than the fact that I will need to get the frame reinforced for a 10k hitch, replace the shocks, get tune up and do alignment - I didn't see a better "value" anywhere else. We did add a 14' manual awning during the time of purchase. The thing about the 27G over the 28a that I like was the slightly smaller dimensions suited my needs better and the fiberglass front shell with it's added height made the inside front seem very tall. Other add-ons that are on the very-short list are: rear-view camera, replace the interior LED lights with ones that are "blue light", 5-star Tuning tuner and maybe a steering stabilizer if the alignment doesn't improve things.
