Glad you’re keeping up with stories!Re: South Florida RV park suggestionsI'd look for anywhere from Tampa on south on the Gulf coast. I'm also a fan of state parks. Some of the interior places on lakes have good fishing but they also have alligators that have been a problem in the last few years. You'll still have to be on the lookout for gators and water moccassins but on the coastal salt water areas, they're less of a problem. I use Allstays. Click on the map for the state and zoom in. Curious what you mean by this Dutch ovens that are used in campfires have lids with rims to allow the piling of charcoal or coals on top. They also have legs to allow coals underneath. The 2/3 and 1/3 rule mentioned above refers in general to the number of coals or charcoal placed on the lid and on the bottom. There are a number of tables available that bring it down to a kind of science BUT remember, if there is wind or it's cold out, it will affect the temperature of D.O. as well. Experience is the best teacher. I'll list the most helpful links below. Rollins' Dutch Oven 101 DO Charcoal Temperature Chart A photo of the campfire dutch oven described above. They come in different sizes too. Re: Homeless Cat -- Now Spotacus' LegacyCongrats on being published. Glad your nephew is stepping in to relieve the holiday pressure. Family's good that way. Sounds like Czarny is glad to have the swooping bullies gone too.Re: Cold Smoked Cheese dedmiston wrote: magnusfide wrote: Any new cheese adventures of late? Not sure how I missed that. It's almost cool enough to do another batch of cheese. I think we're down to just 2-3 packets left, so it needs to happen soon. The weather needs to help out though. Have you thought about making your own cheese and then smoking it? I'm thinking about taking up cheesemaking. I had some smoked jalapeño at our summer reunion and it was outstanding. It would be great to put in Tex Mex.Re: Homeless Cat -- Now Spotacus' LegacyYour SU has been through a lot this year. I’ve no doubt he was tired. About 5 years ago I found myself becoming easily tired. Doc said what do you expect? You’re past 65 so you’d better let off the accelerator somewhat. Thanks, Doc. :BRe: Bacon: The MovieBacon Guys (Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas).Re: Homeless Cat -- Now Spotacus' LegacyGlad you caught a break from the heat. What about donating some of those instruments to the local high school band? Definitely I would keep the fife though. Even I can play the fife and I’d be using it for Hogmanay and Burns’ Night. Speaking of which everything is set up and ordered. Had to get 3 haggis (haggi?) for the bun fight this year because we have another 5 couples joining us. Give Czarny pets from us.Re: Trip from Pa to Georgia via Virginia and TennesseeGlad it was a good trip for you. We enjoy TN, MS, AL, and GA. Great places to visit. East TN and GA are getting crowded unfortunately. We also enjoy Maine, NH and VT. MT and WY are nice too.Re: Homeless Cat -- Now Spotacus' LegacyOne of our favorite parts to a trip is coming back home and having the furbabies velcro on us. They really do miss us. We're taking our last trip of the year in October. Heading to Georgia for a memory lane kind of trip with the relatives. Cancelled another trip because of gasoline prices. I need both arms and legs so can't sacrifice those.
