I am going to have to tear the unit down to determine what the problem is. It is not the starter portion. Anyone know how the generator portion is removed from the engine section? Never torn a generator down before. I will say I had been running it around 25-30hrs/week for about 10-12 weeks so I did like a lot of milage out of it. DaveRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Dlefarris, I used a purolator PRO-42SV (2-3.5 psi) cubed electric fuel pump. I was also concerned about the carb flooding out but I have not experienced any problems. This pump seems to be a noisey one though (clack-clack) and is more annoying than the generator itself. I puchased the springs from Tractor Supply Company (TSC). TSC has a large assortment of springs. They are roughly 2 1/2" long by 1 1/4" in diamter. The generators weigh around 100lbs so you do need some fairly heavy gauge springs. I attached them using fender washers and bolts. These generators are all approximately 22" long, 17" wide, and 18" tall. You also need space for the fan (about 6"). There has to be enough free area in front of the fan for it to work properly. I have a 30" long x 24" x 24" compartment so space was no problem for me. I did not remove the muffler from the generator. The exhaust port in the head may also be threaded (pipe thread) so you could use black pipe for exhaust pipe. Not uncommon for small engines to have both threaded and bolt on capabilities. If the head has pipe threads, you can easily adapt just about any automotive muffler. I just did not want to disturb mine and risk damaging the gasket. The fan is mounted on the engine end. With all sides enclosed with flashing (attached to generator frame), air flow is directly through and over all components. I cut up an auto inner tube to make a access door for operating the choke and pull starter rope handle. I attached a pull sting to the choke so I can turn it off without having to stick my hand back in there after the engine is started. I can check the oil from the front however, my generator compartment has a small access door and requires dropping the unit to do anything else. Even an RV generator would not be easy to do much else to on my rig. I need to open it back up a bit and put some insulation under the generator to see if that will reduce radiated noise I think is being transmitted via the original compartment base plate. Noise level inside the rig is very low. With AC on, you do not even hear the generator. DaveRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.I installed my ELIM3000 in the generator compartment of my 78 Winnebago. Closed in the sides with aluminum flashing. Used a 12VDC radiator fan to push air through it for cooling. Air exhaust is routed down (using the aluminum flashing) through the original exhaust exit for regular RV generators. A 110VAC fan (connected to the 110VAC plug) could also be used. Installed more insulation to help quiet the sound. Offensive noise is from the engine itself, not the exhaust. Mounted generator on springs which virtually eliminates all vibration. Connected a 12VDC fuel pump to pull gas from the aux tank (normal MH approach). Still have to reduce the clack-clack fuel pump noise. It is more annoying than the generator itself. Generator fuel tank is disconnected and empty. Installed a switch on the front panel that operates both the pump and the fan. Welded a short section of 1" elec conduit to the muffler. 3/4" Black pipe will thread into this which is what I used for joints and connections. Used victor muffler sealer to ensure tight joints. Exhaust exits out down through the air exhaust port then is routed back to the rear of the RV. Direct wired the unit into the RV from the back of the 110VAC duplex plug. My rig uses a seperate plug swapped between shore power and generator. I have an old RV converter (6 amp max battery charger) so I use an external battery charger running at 10 amps to maintain battery charge and run the fan/fuel pump. Have been running it 4 days a week for 5-6 hours/day while boondocking. Doing great so far. Will monitor heat issues during warmer summer months to ensure no problems. DaveRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Getting to be amazing at the number of ELIM3000 clones and variations of it there are. I have been using my ELIM3000 for about 4 weeks now (4 days a week [Mon-Thur] for about 4hrs/night). Always starts up on first pull. Only thing I have noticed is the 110VAC recepticle is not very well made. Contacts loosen up over time. Thats why I installed the 30amp RV pigtail which is attached to the generator frame. Noise wise, I would not run it at night in a quiet campground but if your someplace where no one is close by, then it is ok. Then again, mine is currently mounted to the rear bumber of my rig so that possibly could be acting as a sounding board. My goal is to install it in my existing generator compartment. A challenge, but no hurry though. It will be mounted on springs (vibration damping). Will be replacing the existing compartment sound damping material that is 25 years old. I have the space for a blower fan for ventilation. Hope to find a low psi electric fuel pump so I can draw gas from main tank like a normal RV generator. My gen compartment access door is far to small to entertain using the existing generator tank. Only question I have is if anyone knows if the exhaust outlet in the head is threaded or not? If it is, it would be easy to reroute the exhaust system if installed in some form of enclousure (like an existing RV generator compartment). Already have done that before with a lawn mower engine driven 12VDC automotive alternator. Keep the good ideas and thoughts coming. It's been a real treat. DaveRe: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.Rather than use a dogbone adaptor to connect my 30 amp RV plug to the ELM3000, I purchased a 30 amp RV pigtail (used for repairing 30 amp cables) from Campers World and wired it directly to the unused terminals on the rear of the 110VAC recepticle. I attached the pigtail to the frame of the ELM3000. Now all I do is plug in the RV cable to the 30 amp plug. The regular 110VAC sockets are still available when not using the generator to provide power to the RV. Just remember it not use both the regular 110VAC plugs and the RV plug at the same time to prevent overloading the generator. Dave
