Outback 277RL @ 9,000 pounds loaded/35 feet hitch to bumper. I'm using a 12,000# equal-I-zer hitch. I have never had sway despite towing in a storm with 30-35 mph crosswinds or meeting and passing semis. Pulling power is plentiful. It's adequate for the places I tow in but I would never take it to true mountain terrain.Re: Power lift for RVMy wife is an amputee and I installed a Burr Handi Lift for her to use on our travel trailer. It is not compatible with a wheel chair. The basic model is a stand on only. Burr did start offering a seat option for what I consider to be a ridiculous $600.00 upcharge. Shop around and you can get the basic lift for about $1300.00. Make sure that it has enough travel to reach the ground. I think 45" is the standard lift but it can be increased. I had it installed at my RV dealer, that ran about $600.00. It was worth it. The only complaint my wife has is that she would like for it to raise up faster. It takes almost two minutes to come up 3 feet.Re: F150 EcoBoost with Max payload package Super CrewIf the OP is still hanging around.... I have a 2014 F-150 ecoboost 4X4 supercrew with max tow package. I tow a 35' 9,000# wet travel trailer using an equal-I-zer hitch. My tongue weight runs 1080#. Despite towing in some 30-40 MPH cross winds I have experienced no sway. Towing in flat areas or moderate hills I get 9-10 MPG. I have no trouble maintain 55 MPH on 5 degree hills. My mixed city/highway mileage averages 16.5 MPG 70 MPH interstate nets me 19 MPG while traveling secondary roads at 55-60 will turn 21-22 MPG.Re: Grab barI had grab bars installed in our travel trailer for my wife. Our dealer opened the wall and installed additional 2X4 studs in the locations we specified. Gave a good, solid attachment point.Re: Ford F-150 5.0 V8 TowingI've owned and towed with both the 5.0 and 3.5 ecoboost (both with 3:73 gears) while towing a 7700# GVWR travel trailer. On level ground there is very little difference. In hilly terrain the 3.5 really demonstrates it's lower RPM torque production. To keep it brief, the 3.5 can accomplish at 2,500 RPM what takes the 5.0 4,000 RPM and lower gears.Re: Wheelchair assessableMy wife is an amputee and is restricted to a wheel chair or scooter. We installed a burr handi-lift on our Outback 277RL. It has worked great for her. She will ride her scooter up to the lift, transfer to the lift and ride it up to the thresh hold. Originally we were going to place her wheelchair inside the door but she didn't like taking up the space (though there was plenty of room). Instead I installed oversize wheels on a craftsman mechanics stool. Our total cost was just over $2000.00. The lift with a 45" shaft version was about $1400.00 delivered and $600.00 to install at our dealership. The only thing we would change is a motor that speeds the lift up. It takes about 1 1/2 minutes to go from ground to thresh hold level. In our opinion, it was worth every penny.Re: How much is an RV parking space at home worth to you? When I was house shopping late last year space to park my TT was a non-negotiable item. I did have to compromise on one point. I had planned to have a carport shelter built for the TT but the bill of assurance (no HOA here) limited me to the house + one structure which was the 900 sq ft shop. I did pour a 14X90 concrete pad for parking.Re: Funny Town Names?Possum Grape, ARRe: Replacement for my Equalizer WD Hitch? Are you using the trailer's jack to raise the tongue up before removing the bars? There's no problem with jacking it up (and lifting the rear of the truck some) to relieve tension on the bars. It works when putting the bars in place also.Re: WD HITCH questions for new ttI had this same problem recently when I was about to purchase my first TT. It was rated at 7,700# gross. I had narrowed down my selection to the equal-i-zer with 4 point sway control. I used their calculator using my "best guess". Tongue weight was known at 750# and I estimated 200# in truck bed. It also recommended to 1,200/12,000 system. To say that I was skeptical would be an understatement. No matter how I played with the numbers, as long as I stayed within a realistic range it kept selecting the 1,200/12,000. I set it up per the instructions from equal-i-zer and the setup is almost ideal.
