All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Starting in January 2025 Welcome Chad! There are a multitude of tips we could give you about the world of RVing that could fill a book. So it would be most helpful if you could narrow your inquiry. Are you first looking for advice on which RV to buy? Do you know if you want a motorhome (and if so, with or without a tow car), truck and trailer, truck and 5th wheel, camper truck, camping van, etc.?? You might want to consider buying a good well-taken care of used unit rather than brand new. New units greatly depreciate as soon as you drive them off the dealer's lot. Even the brand new ones have problems to work out as you use them. Whereas hopefully, a slightly used unit will have had some kinks worked out by the first owner. I would always recommend a newbie take a practice trip or two nearby home before getting rid of your home and starting full-time RVing. You need time to learn about your RV while using it in a real-life situation at a campground before diving in to using it full-time. There are a plethora of online resources to find campgrounds/RV parks. There are private commercial parks, public lands (including Nat'l Parks, State parks, County/City parks, BLM, etc.), some Walmarts and Casinos to dry camp (without hookups), and more. The public lands are usually peaceful...but you could occasionally run into some partiers...especially on weekends and holidays! I've been in many many commercial RV parks that are also very quiet. Hopefully you've researched full-timing and are good with the finances of it all. The money outlay doesn't end with initially buying an RV, because RV's seem to always have one thing or another going wrong. Sometimes it's just a little thing you can fix yourself, but other times you need professional help, and that costs money. Since you are starting in winter, I'd say you should take a southerly route (like I-10, for example). RVs are not necessarily built for all-weather camping. For example, water could freeze and burst your inside piping, without taking proper precautions. So always watch the weather forecast as you travel. (Not just for cold, but tornados, hurricanes, etc. that you would not want to be involved in.) Well, that's a few of my tips (without writing a book!). I've RV'd for over 30 years and am still coming across new things/ideas/fixes! Re: Visiting Phoenix Other than Grand Canyon, Sedona is the first place that comes to mind. It's 2 hours north of Phoenix. Check the weather before you travel there. Snow is possible. Tucson, a couple hours south of Phoenix, has plenty to see and do. And south of there is Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson. Tombstone and Bisbee might be of interest also. By the way, any place that is scenic and interesting is not going to be "under-the-radar". Re: VIDEO: Annular Solar Eclipse and Hot Air Balloons 10/14/2023No traffic in Winnemucca, NV, where I was in the 100% path for the annular eclipse :) But that's pretty cool to be at the balloon festival with the eclipse! Thanks for working hard to make the video! I would agree that a full eclipse (which I saw in 2017) is a more spectacular event. However, this one was still pretty special! Are you planning a trip for next year's total solar eclipse?Re: Can anyone identify this lake?Peyto Lake...about 1/2 hour north of Lake Louise (according to Google map) along Icefields Pkwy.Re: Highway 89 in UtahCurious where you are looking that 89 looks like a dirt road? As others wrote, you should have no problem driving that section of 89.Re: Flying J RV discount CardTenOC...I have no problem getting the $.05 per gallon discount on gas. Have gotten it at many Pilot/Flying J gas stations. At the pump, I scan my Good Sam membership card (first, if I recall correctly), then I scan my credit card (no need for a special Flying J credit/charge card), then the pump prices change to $.05 lower, then I pump my gas. I see at the bottom of the website mentioned above, in fine print is: "Discount available at company owned and operated Pilot Flying J locations." Maybe there are non-company owned stations where you have tried to get the discount??Re: i pad or ?I think it has to do with personal preference. Imagine doing the things you mentioned on your phone, but a bigger screen. That's basically what a tablet is. I prefer my laptop, with a mouse and real keyboard. I have a friend who does everything on her phone. I could never do that! I do have a small tablet (not an iPad) but only use it for games, which I do like it for. Are you a Mac/iPhone owner? Is that why you are considering an iPad? If not, there are several Android tablets. I use a Mac laptop, Windows laptop in the household, and Android phone and tablet. But not everyone is tri-lingual :) All these electronics travel with us!Re: Epson Printer QuestionLouLawrence...That's what I thought when I looked at the spec sheet. But if you look at the printer on Costco.com, and find the picture with the dimensions, it shows the height 10.2" without the input paper tray.Re: From a class C to class A ??We are a couple who went from Class C to Class A as we retired. We had a 23' Class C and bought a 28' Class A before we retired...to be sure we could pay for it (haha!). That Class A looked soooo big to us at first! Now we've had our 32' Class A for about 10 years and love it. All were bought used. We used to move around alot when RVing. Now we go on 3-6 month trips and stay longer in some areas. Having room for a walk-around bed, a recliner chair, a full-length couch and dinette has been very beneficial to us. Also, the Class A's have more basement storage, which is great. The other thing we love is the view from a Class A, since it sits higher and has a big unobstructed window. I always look online at RVs...kind of a hobby. Sure, we'd like to buy a newer motorhome, but it's probably not in the cards. Anyway, I do have a crush on the Tiffin Allegro 34TGA :) I'd take the 32BA also. I've never heard of 32TS, nor could I find it online. We have absolutely no regrets in going to a Class A.Re: Winnemucca, NV to Las VegasWow! I had to look that up. Interesting! Hopefully they will be gone by October!
