Stayed there several times when I lived in TN. Great campground with lots of hiking available. If you have a big rig enter from the west. Coming in from the east you have a steep descent down to the river with tight switchbacks and the same going up the other side to the campground.Re: Lance 995 or 975 truck choice mbloof wrote: OldF**t wrote: Did you read my previous post about the 975? Don't know about current trucks but back in 2019 when I was looking both F350CC SRW 4x2 and 4x4 had a max gvwr of 11,500 lbs with a max cargo capacity of 4130 for the 4x2 and 4450 for the 4x4. The 975 is too heavy to carry safely on a SRW. Perhaps you should look at a lighter unit. But again that is just my opinion. Humm, is that a typo? I'd think that the 4x2 would have a higher "cargo" rating then the 4x4 as the truck is lighter (no 4x4 hardware). - Mark0. No typo. Numbers right off the payload chart in the 2019 sales brochure for the F350 crew cab. Go figure.Re: Lance 995 or 975 truck choiceDid you read my previous post about the 975? On the CAT scale it is close to 5K lbs on the rear axle when loaded for camping with tanks half full. IMO that is too much for a SRW truck. Yes there are no large storage areas but it is adequate for us. The truck rides level with the camper loaded with just upper stableloads added and handles the load with no problems.Re: Hitch extension with Dual Moto CarrierThis site may be of some help for your calculations: Hitch Extension CalculatorRe: Carlsbad Caverns NM hotpepperkid wrote: OldF**t wrote: The KOA north of town is probably the best campground but it is 30 to 45 minutes to the caverns depending on traffic thru town. Coming from that KOA there is a by-pass about 10 miles South of the park that takes you on the West edge of town missing all of that down town area Yes. I forgot about that bypass. About a mile shorter and way less traffic and lights.Re: Carlsbad Caverns NMThe KOA north of town is probably the best campground but it is 30 to 45 minutes to the caverns depending on traffic thru town.Re: Complete newbie needs helpSome newbie info here: Truck Camper Magazine
