They really didn’t make me wait...they would have paid a local welder to repair it onsite if I was indeed stranded...they then wanted me to return to the factory at my convenience for complete factory approved and installed repairs. After explaining what my situation...the repairs here made more sense...and are backed by LCI... RegardsBack after a rough year with some good news about LippertIt’s been a long and rough year with health issues for both Deb and I...but we are back...somewhat worn from wear but things are turning around... We were returning to Michigan after a great two weeks volunteering at the big air show in Oshkosh Wi when I noticed a big problem with the frame on our 2018 Cyclone 4005. The rear hangar mount on axle 3 had failed allowing the axle to shift forward. This destroyed one tire...fortunately we at my daughters property when this was discovered. After making a few phone inquiries, I called Lippert about the problem. They were polite and concerned. After making sure I was off the road and safe, they opened up a case file and asked for pictures...I sent them the pictures.. .This was on a Friday...Monday morning they called me to discuss repair options. LCI decided that an onsite repair was needed. They called me back later in the week to tell me they were dispatching a factory tech with a mobile welding rig to my location to do the repairs...and they did... Yesterday, Robert, factory service tech, arrived as promised. What a true professional in all regards. He explained the repair process and then expertly completed the repairs. New bracket hangars were welded in place where needed and reinforcing gussets and angles were installed on the remaining hangars. Axle alignment was completed and he rotated my tires...after a complete cleanup and some maintenance tips, Robert left for home leaving a very satisfied customer...thank you Robert and LCI for stepping up and fixing the problem LCI gets a lot of bad press here and on other discussion venues about quality, design issues and poor service...while the design apparently has some shortfalls we also know in the real world customers break anvils...in our case, LCI provided customer service that they can be proud of...and again Deb and I are thankful... Currently we are finishing up two building projects for family but we will be back on the road in a couple of weeks heading for Iowa to help my cousin with his grain harvest... Great to be back... RegardsRe: Ford Ram GM BigToe wrote: ROBERTSUNRUS wrote: Hi, yes you should expect that the fuel you buy to be good, but if it is not, blame the fuel company, not Ford. Water ruins the pump; Ford did not put the water in your tank. Vehicles have to be built to run on the fuel that is available. Imagine if your EcoBoost only ran on pure solid rocket fuel that was unobtainable anywhere except Cape Canaveral... that vehicle would be useless in Oregon. When new Ford trucks don't run on the common fuel that is widely available from Tier One oil company brands dispensed at high volume stations... while all the other diesel trucks on the road do just fine on the same fuel, the problem boils down to Ford not building a truck that runs on the fuel that is available. Fuel quality and content is strictly regulated. We don't have a choice in the matter. Neither do the refineries. Fuel content is a critical component of the EPA's emission control strategy. No reasonably responsible person with enough disposable income to afford an $80K truck is dumping in forgotten fuel found in a rusty can buried by their grandpa under a dilapidated barn drowning in a swamp. The owners who have been marooned by Ford on this fuel pump issue have taken fastidious care of their trophy tow vehicle, buying only the best for it, including filter maintenance and top tier fuel. It isn't like they are careless or clueless. The same fuel powers Peterbilts, KWs, Whites, Hinos, Izuzus, MB's, Cats, Cummins, and my 20 year old Ford diesel that I have drained fuel samples from into a clear container periodically and after letting it stand for a few hours, never yet found a drop of water in the fuel. Yet Ford has chosen to point to trace amounts of slight corrosion inside the CP4 fuel pump as "evidence" that the customer pumped water into the fuel tank, and therefore the customer (or the fuel company) is to be blamed. For what? Poor engineering of a component that cannot run on the regulated fuel available? When that specific component is manufactured with dissimilar metals internally that eventually exhibit corrosion anyway, without help of water? That GM warrantied the failure of these fuel pumps, and Ford didn't, demonstrates that Ford took advantage of the propensity of these pumps to exhibit dissimilar metal corrosion, and used that as an excuse to blame the customer for the problem in order to weasel out of any warranty obligation to fix it. GM abandoned the CP4 pump.(Gale Banks has some insightful comparison comments on the differences between the CP4 and the new fuel pump in the L5P in a recent video he made in conjunction with two other guys whose names I forget) Exactly what actually happened in my case...second dealer totally debunked the water in fuel nonsense from the crooked stealership in Ann Arbor...To deny Ford took the low road in the CP 4 debacle is a sure sign of “blue kool aid poisoning”...Re: 2019 Ram HDWell... I see that after another year passed by...the Bosch CP 4 discussions continue...me...I bought the 2015 Ram and have put 20000 miles on it...very happy with the purchase...the CP 4 is a deal breaker for me so I am twice as happy that I bought the 2015...I see the truck lasting me for years so I have no concerns about what any of the manufacturers do until then... Glad to be back RegardsRe: Information from The Ram Guys about buying a 3500The B&W is not moving from the destroyed Chevy...I am willing to try the Curt for a bit...if I don't like it enough I will get a new B&W with pucks and sell the Curt...Re: Information from The Ram Guys about buying a 3500 NC Hauler wrote: Ricatic, good seeing you in here buddy. You can see my truck in my sig. My 5er is weighing in at 18,250# total GVWR is 28,400# now. Love the rear air assist. I’ve never gotten 20 mpg, but running empty, driving at 55-60 my have by 18 mpg.. but it’s rare. I e towed my 5er in the mountains of WV, VA, TN, NC and SC, ( several 7% grades on I77 and I64. Also from WVa to Cleveland TX... towing at speeds as high as 70 mph. Could tow faster, don’t feel the need to. Depending on terrain and speed, I’ve averaged as low as 7.5 and at times hit a little “right at” 10mpg. (Hand calc). Best I’ve ever gotten solo has been a little over 17 mpg, hand calc. For the first time, I will say, while towing on flatland, I don’t even know it’s back there, ( never really towed in flat land until heading to TX. I hope you and your family are well and hope you’ll be happy with the Ram3500 dually. Love mine, dry comfortable and a towing machine Jim Jim I have always “been around”...just been so busy with work that posting was the victim of not enough time...glad you could jump in....I was hoping your expertise added to Cummins...and the others would ease the learning curve on switching to the Ram... The mileage numbers that you and Cummins are posting are similar to what I was getting with the Chevy Duramax 2wd so I can certainly live with those figures...and enjoy the added power, comfort and weight capacity...our Cyclone was right at 19000 pounds when I weighed it loaded for our Oshkosh trip... For those who want pics...I will start a new thread when I get the truck...right now it is 1100 miles away basking in the warm weather...stay tuned...Cumminis V was right about his “inside info” on the 4.10 gears...actually...my new truck is a virtual twin to his...2015 Ram Laramie with Aisin trans, air ride and automatic everything...heated and cooled everything...and it comes with a 24k Curt puck mount hitch...Being an avowed B&W fan, I will try the Curt but will likely go to B&W after the mad money fund replenishes...the sooner than expected replacement of the Chevy dented the budget a bit Thanks again to all for the help RegardsRe: Information from The Ram Guys about buying a 3500Thanks to all that participated...and thanks for keeping the posts on topic...I have placed a deposit on a new to me 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie loaded with virtually every option...bought from original owner who it purchased new in March of 2016...36,000 miles...Aisin, air ride, automatic everything, sunroof, heated and cooled everything...nice dark grey color with black interior that matches my Cyclone 4005 full body paint toyhauler perfectly...an otherwise happy ending to the sad demise of my beloved 06 Duramax Chevy in an unfortunate accident... Scheduling with the current owner pushes out the pickup date to the end of the month...It will be tough waiting but I don't need the truck till weather breaks in April... On another front, an unfortunate accident took out my 06 DuraMax Dually...that was a good truck... I have placed a deposit on a mint condition 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie Dually, 6.7 Cummins with Aisin transmission...36000 miles and buying from the original purchaser...never seen snow, salt or gravel roads...always kept under cover... Congrats to the Op on his good fortune... RegardsRe: Information from The Ram Guys about buying a 3500I put 90000 miles on the Duramax with only a carrier bearing replacement and maintenance...sadly...it was destroyed in an unfortunate accident...Kay Sara Sara...life goes on... I was already looking to buy next spring or summer but nature made up my mind for me... Thanks for caring RegardsRe: Information from The Ram Guys about buying a 3500Thanks to all for the excellent information...I am looking at Aisin equipped trucks only with less than 60,000 miles...I am currently looking at a 16 Big Horn/Aisin w/o air ride but otherwise fully loaded with 59000 miles on the odometer... I bought the Duramax Chevy 4 years ago with 61000 miles and at its demise it had 151000 on it...That should be the same mileage expectations for the next several years...I might hit 200,000 miles in ten years... Cummins...I hear you about ordering but I need a truck sooner than later and really don't want to pay the big bucks for new... Thanks again...and keep the good advice coming... Regards
