What's the best caulk to use? Recommendations? ThanksReplacing light fixtures in SprinterI have a 2013 Sprinter 311 BHS and I need to replace a few of the dual overhead light fixtures. They have old style bulbs and got hot and melted parts of the switch! So I need to replace 2 of the entire fixtures and then do LEDs in others. Anyone know the right fixture? I see quite a few on Amazon, maybe someone else has done this? TIARe: Any towing difference between 8' or 8.5' width? Thanks for all the responses!Any towing difference between 8' or 8.5' width?I'm looking at getting an overall shorter trailer, but perhaps wider. Currently we have a Sprinter 311BHS that is 8' wide (before they went wide body) and am looking at an AF 25W that is 8.5'. Overall I want a shorter unit to get into more places, like US Parks. We mostly go to state parks, but I really have to watch how long the pad is to get my unit parked. Did anyone notice any real towing differences with the wider units? Any concerns on narrow roads, parking in sites, etc? Thanks!Re: Higher end brands? donn0128 wrote: Lance and,Arctic Fox are two that come to mind. Airstream of course. We also have a family of RV'ers and have 3-4 families camping together pretty regular. It's a blast!Re: help with famly bunkhouse choice please KZ jayco othersWe had a Jayco and it was built very well. Make sure you get one big enough for your family, and well within capability of your tow vehicle. We had a Jayco 26Bh which ended up being too small for us. Jayco's have 2 year warranty too. They were also just bought by Thor (who owns Keystone and others) which I don't believe bodes well for Jayco. I have no experience with KZ, I'd recommend staying away from Keystones.Re: Dutch oven tripod? magnusfide wrote: You can add three more chains with s hooks easily enough. Use a carabiner at the top to attach; permanently attach the three chains to an old BBQ grate. Have an extra s hook on the grate for the main chain and Bob's yer uncle. I use 4 chains for my grate the main and 3 others) as it's more stable for heavier items. Just get the materials at the hardware store. If you go to one of the smaller hardware stores just tell an older looking guy what you want to do and he'll help you figure it out. Those old fellers are pretty handy (moi included). This is why I love this site, thanks for the idea.Re: What Travel Traler to buy?As others have said, tow vehicle is very important and payload in particular. If trying to pull with a 1/2 ton, do a lot of math on this. On the actual units, it's also helpful to know how many people are sleeping and how you would use the trailer, do you want to be able to have room for everyone on rainy days or is it just a shelter to sleep in? We had a Jayco 26BH and really liked it, but it was too small for us, so we got a much bigger trailer and a much bigger truck. We now own a Sprinter, and I wouldn't recommend Keystone products. I haven't had any major issues, but many, many, many small ones. Look at build quality, read posts about brands (and none are perfect). Get you and your family sitting in the ones you like for more than 20 min and start thinking about your day camping. What happens in the morning? Do you have to move past each other? Do you have to fold beds up for people to sit for breakfast? Do you want to be making beds up every day/morning? There are many options, take the time to continue research, these forums are packed with information.Re: Dutch oven tripod? After looking at this more, I'm wondering if anyone uses a grill grate with a tripod? It would be nice to have one that could do either a dutch oven or a grill grate, but the lodge ones only have one chain, and the ones that have 3 seem much smaller and flimsy and wouldn't hold a DO. Thanks for the replies so far, has me thinking.
