Sure, it will pull, it may even stop, sort of. But if you ever get in an accident, the first thing the insurance company will do, is check to see if you were over ratings. When they find you were, your insurance is no good, and lawyers from the other vehicle in the accident, will come after you with a vengeance. After all, you negligently disregarded the trucks specifications. You are at fault. You can imagine where that will go. Mark Just because an RV has a GVWR that is higher than the trucks rating doesn't necessarily mean the RV is loaded up to full capacity. I repeatedly weighed my setup on DOT scales and was quite often over 1000 lbs under the GVWR of the RV. Lets not get to hung up on technicalities. I carried those weights receipts with me.Re: Weight Police: Need Help!!! Old-Biscuit wrote: OVER is over..... One stays within ratings or justifies not doing so OP...you will be OVER with that 5vr And will the world come to an end?Re: Weight Police: Need Help!!!Just remember that the only difference between a 2500 and 3500 might be the springs. The Axle rating and tires might be the same between the two. If so then airbags will help any excess sag but won't change the payload specification on the door decal. But will give you an equivalent load carrying capacity as the 3500. Pulled a 2006 Keystone/Montana 3400RL 38' 5th wheel 13,957 GVWR for 9 years and over 35,000 miles on the RV/Truck combination with a 2003 Ford f250 7.3L 4 x 4 without problems. Sold the RV, truck still going strong with 185,000 miles on it. I don't recommend it but sometimes we get all caught up in numbers.Re: Front and Rear Axle Weights phillyg wrote: Wait a minute! If the known weight of the FW is 10,000lbs and the known pin weight is 2,000lbs, isn't each axle at 4,000lbs, give or take a few pounds? Am I missing something here? No, and I don't think the laws of physics have changed either. :-)Re: Front and Rear Axle Weights rhagfo wrote: MFL wrote: You are right on Old-Biscuit, but I'm not sure that is what he is asking. IDK, but if he means how much of the 2,000 lbs pin weight goes on each truck axle, a rule of thumb would be most on the rear axle of truck. Very little weight is transferred to truck front axle. In this case, I'd guess less than 100 lbs. Jerry X2 We are talking 5er here and even if the hitch is a couple inches ahead of the axle center line, the weight to the front axles is nil. X3 That was our experience also pulling a 38' Keystone Montana 3400RLRe: Did your truck cost more than the house you live in nowOur new F250 diesel cost less than 1/20th the value of our house.Re: Electric brakes blow fuse??We had a intermittent short on our brake wiring that the Tekonsha Controller repeatedly notified us of. Never did blow a fuse though. Had to replace the wires running through the axle tube on the rear axle due to worn insulation. A minor issue compared to all the other major issues we had on our 2006 Keystone Montana 3400RL.Re: In the preliminary stages of shoppingBecome a member of the respective manufacturers web sites and research what their owners are having trouble with. Secondly do a search here on RV.net on your particular manufacturer and model, if possible, and see what the owners experience has been. Drive through RV parks and knock on doors of your potential manufacturers owners and ask for their feedback. You may be very surprised by the feedback you get.Re: tire replacementAfter 40,000 miles with a Keystone Montana 3400RL which started out with two ST Tires sets which failed twice within 10,000 miles each you couldn't give me a set of the best ST tires on the market for free. I would throw them in the junk pile and never install them. Once we installed LT tires our problems went away. End of discussion.Re: tire replacement gmw photos wrote: TucsonJim wrote: Passin Thru wrote: I don't mean to be a grump but there are about 20 forums discussing tires on the Net.
