All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Dental Work in TijuanaThis is not a good forum to find out about Mexican dentistry. Mostly what you get is people who have never done it telling you how bad it will be. You'll never see studies to back it up, just opinions. The best way to get a good dentist recommendation is to google "Tijuana Mexico dentist" (or whatever city you are interested in). You will find literally hundreds of reviews from people who have been to dentists in the area. There are good reviews and there are some bad reviews. Names are named, procedures are described. People who have been there and done that. Real life gives better results than keyboard specialists. My experience in Cozumel was very good. I got a recommendation from some Mexican friends who have lived on the island for 30 years. He was an oral surgeon, although I did not need oral surgery. His office was as modern as any I've been to in the US. I got X-rays, cleaning and 8 small fillings replaced. Total cost was $500 US. I didn't get sick or die. The experience was virtually identical to my experience in the US - even down to the English being spoken while I was in the chair. Bad experiences in dentistry are possible anywhere. Do your home work and make your choice. The idea that Mexican dentists are somehow ignorant or neglectful of basic hygiene practices is ludicrous, but some myths die hard. BillRe: Is anyone towing with an older pickup truck.I towed our trailer from Michigan to California with my 2002 GMC 2500 HD without any problems and would do so again. New trucks may have better towing capabilities, but not $50K better. If you are satisfied with the reliability I say keep on using it.Re: Rattle SnakesEvery state which contains rattlesnakes protects some species of rattlesnakes. It’s not a California “thing”. Google is your friend.Re: Oklahoma City John Kilpatrick TurnpikeJust went through last week. There are two toll stations on the whole turnpike. I have the Pike Pass, so I don’t stop at the cash lane, but I think the $1.30 may be correct. I got a Pike Pass even though I only go through a couple of time a year because of the convenience.Re: Gas Line To StoveViewed from above, turn the large nut counter clockwise while preventing the adaptor from moving.Re: Low Converter OutputThanks for the advice. I think it's new converter time. I got the 4 volt DC reading with the battery disconnected and also at each 12V DC circuit on the panel, so it appears that I am indeed getting only 4V output. The converter is a Parallax 7155, and I see that direct replacements are available. It also appears that the 7155 is not a "smart" charger, so maybe I'll look for a better replacement. I will double check to see that I am getting 120V to the converter (not just to the main panel) in case there is a problem with the breaker. BillLow Converter OutputMy trailer has been on shore power for some time and the battery is dead. I checked power to the trailer and have 120 volts AC. I checked the output from the converter at the battery and at the converter and I am only getting 4 volts DC. I have done a search and can't find a converter problem that involves low voltage output, usually it seems that they just go dead. Any suggestions for solving this low output problem? Thanks in advance BillRe: Planing a trip to Mexico with my family(safety concerns)I think you can get a lot more information by checking or searching the web for sites about travel in Mexico. Read the Kindle book "Don't Go There. It's Not Safe. You'll Die". It's worth the read and will recommend other websites for info. Check out Mexico Mike's website for info, opinions and maps of Mexico. In this forum you will get good advice from people who have been there and generally poor advice from people who haven't. Expand your search and you will find a lot of information from people who are travelling overland in Mexico.
