Re: Buying a used tire to carry as a spare?
I did as was suggested by a poster -- I recently bought two new fronts and have kept one for a spare. I had it mounted on a used rim and will carry it on our trip this next summer to Alaska. Do you end up also registering your vehicles where you have your residence, and have your driver license from that state??? If so -- I believe Texas has a special license for the RV that is more complicated. In Florida (where I live) there is no special RV license. When you register a vehicle for the first time in FL you have to have the VIN verified by the police. I had a palm beach county police person who lives in our community verify mine so I could register it. RV license fees are reasonable. When you first register you will need some proof of taxes paid -- otherwise you might owe sales tax on the RV value. I realize the my 2004 Ford Explorer is a totally different year. However, I tow it four down (4&4 version) and do not disconnect the battery. I had a similar question when I started towing it, but decided to just see. I Have towed it about 10,000 miles, and for weeks at a time with no indication of any discharging of the battery. thx --- Dale353Views0likes0Comments
