When we are leaving home and traveling through Seattle/Portland or any larger area, we are usually done with those areas before 5am (Winter=Night, Summer=Day). Our 7 year old loves to get up in the middle of the night to start our early morning drives.Re: Can we travel with fresh tank full? We lose half on the way.Having taken a long family trip where we needed to take the car along with our F-350/TT, I spent a lot of time following in the car and watching the "mist" hitting the ground with every bump and curve that the trailer took. It was fun to watch as during the 8 hour trek...it never stopped. Yes it was the water from the overflow valve and while we weren't too worried as we were dumping that water as it was full of bleach to sanitize the system from the winter, it was an eye opener to make sure that we fill or pack extra water when we dry camp. It was about 6 gallons of water from the 45 gallon tank.Re: how long is your tear down/setup time?Setting up - no more than 30 minutes - could be faster but we have a 7 year old that wants to help do everything. My husband has his set of chores and I have mine. Daughter wants to help both of us at the same time, thus we are looking at how to change things a bit. If we didn't have the interruptions, we can be done in about 18 minutes, including lawn chairs, BBQ and Mosquito tent. Cleaning up - This is really hard as we will pre-pack almost everything the night before as we are usually on the road at 5am. It's more relaxed and allows us to make sure everything is stored well. All bikes travel inside, as our bottom bunk can be locked in the up position, so our mosquito tent, table, lawn chairs and bikes all ride in that space. The longest part is cleaning the black tank, which usually takes 20 minutes. During that time I will then have the lunches made, breakfast dishes cleaned/dried/stored, plus every surface wiped down, sanitized, plus the vacuuming done. Once husband has completed the black tank cleaning, I do a final once over with clorox wipes in the bathroom and to our rear doorway, due to black tank cleaning. It's become a lot smoother and second nature the more we camp. The first trip of the year always seems to be the learning curve.Re: How many amps to run ACWe have the 13.5 AC on our trailer as well. We have a 20A circuit at home for the trailer. Initial startup of the AC draws 18.2A and then settles at 13.8A. Hope that helps.Re: Wheel BearingsIt probably has something to do with the a fact that when we got the trailer, either the manufacturer/dealer, over packed the bearings and our breaks & drums were covered in the grease. The manufacturer replaced all bearings/rotors/breaks when we took the trailer back to them, due to some major warranty issues. No, I'm not joking in that he will pull the wheels/bearings and re-pack. Having had horse trailers/boat trailers, I remember doing them with my dad about every 5 years. Adding grease to the boat trailer, every time it was in the water...Horse trailer - adding once a year as it might get 1500 miles on it in a year.Wheel BearingsHow often do you all pack your wheel bearings? My husband is doing it every trip. This to me seems really excessive for a 120 mile drive. I could understanding if the trailer were a boat trailer and being immersed multiple times in a week. Thanks!Re: main slide axle broken - second timeSince the axle sheared off from the drive motor, its a push-me pull-me thing once it has broken. The axle just free spins.main slide axle broken - second timeHey all...had a wonderful 8 hour camping trip for our 5 day scheduled weekend. Our 2014 Timberridge 270DBHS slide has broken for the second time. We've had it repaired twice now, once to replace the broken axle, the second to fix the alignment and now this is the third. I don't know the manufacturer of the motor/axle assembly, but am seriously wondering if there was a recall on the one we have. My question to all is, have you ever taken out the RV Manufacturer's slide motor and replaced with a different brand? Thanks!Re: paper plates or doing dishes / wife adviceHave to say as the wife, I love the real plates. As the one who does all of the cooking and the rest of the team is suppose to wash, I end up washing as well. My husband "HATES" dishes and since he cleans the black tanks, I'll give him a small pass and we'll use the paper. My biggest issue with the real dishes is counter space for drying and we are only three people. Good Luck!Re: Can't stop swayHave to say when we got our trailer 3 years ago, we had our dealer "set-up" our equalizer hitch. Drove home 270+ miles with not a lot of issues until we hit the sidewinds...then it was a tail wagging the dog situation. Next trip out we had the same issue with side winds. Husband decided to start from square one with the hitch setup. Figured out that the hitch was probably never adjusted to our truck as he had to move 5 washers to set things up correctly. After that fix, we didn't have issues with sway in side winds unless it was blowing 40+. Might be something to check!
