Quite a bit easier once you have the right setup. Blocking PictureRe: Newbie - Leveling on DrivewayThank you all for the great feedback. I turned on the fridge last night to see if it would run and it does =). So I'm not too concerned about getting it perfectly level. I will also be looking into the adjustable tripod, that will assist to raise it a bit more while blocking. This site has been great, thanks again!Re: Newbie - Leveling on Driveway SoundGuy wrote: My own driveway slopes far more to the street than it appears yours does ...when level the rear bumper is only ~ 10" off the ground while the tongue is close to 3', and this is with a much shorter trailer that's just 22.5' long. :E The solution is simple - I use a triple stack of 2x, each stack being 6" tall, effectively bringing ground level under the coupler up by 18". Multiple stacks rather than one single stack allows me to unhitch / hitch up in stages, using a tripod stand under the A frame in stages to achieve this. Thanks for the picture. Is there a specific tripod stand you would recommend. I tried searching for them but kept coming up with results only for a 5th wheel. Also for the load requirement for a tripod stand, would I just use the trailer tongue weight as the minimum I would need? Thanks again.Re: Newbie - Leveling on DrivewayThank you everyone for the feedback, it is much appreciated.Re: Newbie - Leveling on DrivewayI will have to measure to get exact but my estimate is about 12 inches.Newbie - Leveling on DrivewayHello, New to this site and travel trailers. Purchased our first camping trailer this spring =). I will be parking it on my driveway while it isn't in use but wanted to get it as level as possible. My understanding is that it is needed to be level if I want to run the fridge. My driveway slopes down and then the street slopes up so when I am unhitching my trailer the bottom of the tongue jack (while it is all the way up) is only about 6 inches from the driveway. I used a block of wood under that and then jack up the trailer with the tongue jack. I still need to go up quite a bit to get it level and wondering how I would be able to do this. I have also read that some trailers have stabilizer jacks that can be used to actually lift the trailer (allowing me to get more blocking under the tongue jack), but other places I have read that they aren't meant to hold the weight. My goal was to be able to start the fridge a day or so before we head out camping so it gets down to the proper temp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (I tried to attach a picture, not sure if that was the right way) Image of Trailer on DrivewayRe: Negotiating Price on a New TrailerThanks for the all feedback and info. SoundGuy, appreciate the link and info for a Canadian sale for this model. I agree, pricing seems very different between US and Canada even after the dollar conversion. This give me at least something to go by for negotiation. I am thinking to offer around the $21K mark and see where it goes from there. Planning a trip down to the dealer next weekend :).Re: Negotiating Price on a New TrailerNot very good :), and it doesn't help not having much to go on (MSRP, other dealer prices). I usually don't go back and forth much, I'll offer a bit lower than what my max is and go from there (usually I base that off other prices or MSRP). There are no dealers in my town so I was going to make the trip out there and offer the price, I figure being there with the money would provide more leverage than over the phone deal.Negotiating Price on a New TrailerHello, Thanks for everyone who has helped with my previous questions in finding a trailer. We have finally narrowed the trailer that best suits are needs and we are able to safely tow with our vehicle. This will be our first trailer and have chosen the 2017 Sportsmen 242 SBH SS :) . The dealer has it listed at $27,995 CND. Any suggestions or ideas on what I should going in with for an offer on it. I tried to find other dealers in my Alberta or Western Canada that sell this unit but not having much luck. Also, could not find the MSRP anywhere. I have seen other posts on this site referencing making offers of 20% - 40% lower then MSRP (but I cannot find that), also does being in Canada make a difference on the markups. Thanks again for any feedback!Re: Purchasing First TrailerForgot to add, its a 6.2L and has trailer break controller (not sure if that makes any difference). Thanks
