Forgot to take the smoke alarm battery out when we put it in storage so that was chirping away. Had to go through shin deep snow to get around the sides but it is starting to feel like spring. We did keep the truck path to the camper snow fee.Re: What mistakes have you made that might help others...?Do not drive across part of the Escalante with your slide out. Had stopped for lunch, merrily got underway and to our horror, a glance in the mirror showed the dinette slide out. This was on the Host so it wasn't out as far as the Chalet would have been. No way to even pull over on the side of the road as there was nothing but drop offs. No apparent damage done except to our heart rate. We now both walk all the way around the camper after a stop.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Winterized and packed all the "stuff" into plastic tubs with inventory on the lid. It can always come out of hibernation and head south but the cold is here and the TC is safer winterized.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Doubled checked that the propane tanks were full since we've been keeping the heat on at 45F. Maine's starting to get cold at night. Put few more gallons of fresh water in and checked the water level in the batteries. The TC can act as a source of power if we get clobbered by the approaching storm. Not expecting any problems with the storm but nice to know you have power and heat if needed.Re: How many TCers here?Ah! To be 41 again.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Going through each and every compartment to get out that "extraneous stuff" that seems to seep in after each trip. We've been on the road a lot this year already and the "stuff" does accumulate. We'll also be running the generator a bit to exercise it while I do a super good cleaning. Maine's going to be in the 90s today so might even run the AC.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Batteries are in and showed 5 of 6 bars on the solar panel meter. Yes! Moved the camper to be more in the sun and will start the packing of the permanent stuff Thursday after two days of expected rain. No signs of any winter damage anywhere in the camper. That big back storage lift door is slightly bowed out but is dry and closes fine. 52F in Maine today which is like mid summer. Makes me want to hop in the camper and go.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Chopped up the ice/snow left by the plow in the last storm from woods entry to where the camper is stored. A little bit more sun on the cover and it will come off and fingers crossed, we'll check to see if there is any winter damage. We've peeked a few times but not made a full entry.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Got out the tubs of "stuff" that gets put in the camper and started going through it all to see what doesn't really need to go. Refreshed the first aid kit, washed the linens. Supposed to be 50F here this coming week so we'll take the cover off and think about putting the batteries back in. Joe will do the load test on the batteries to see how they wintered with the trickle chargers. Last two snow storsm, the town plow left us a big mound in front of where we store the camper. That's got to be chopped through before we can load it.Re: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?Cleared snow and ice off the top of the ADCO and inspected for mice/squirrel entry. Dreamed of getting on the road again.
