I would imagine the 8K is the same. 250 hours seems logical but once a year is not I only maybe use mine 10 hours in a year so it pointless to change oil just because a year has lapsedRe: Generator run time aboeck3 wrote: How long is it safe to run my diseal At a time? Should I shut it down occasionally to cool down? This is a 7kw Onan unit Thanks as long as its got fuel oil and proper cooling it can run 24/7Re: Tiffin owners, is this true Huskerblue wrote: Yes, agreed. As the OP I thank all of you for your responses. I learned a lot here. Although thinking about it further if you intend to throw a few hundred watts of solar panels on your roof the auto gen start would not seem necessary. Have always had solar so I appreciate how well they take care of your batteries no matter how much dry camping you do. what to do when dark out and batterys run low????? or cloudy rainy days????Re: Old School Wiring Gurus Please Step Inside (headlights) wa8yxm wrote: Incandescant headlights are polarity insensitive. So it is possible they reversed the wires.. That's all I can say. Your voltmeter is your friend. yes exactly what I posted several hours and posts earlierRe: Old School Wiring Gurus Please Step Inside (headlights) turbojimmy wrote: Okay I figured it out. Thanks to all for your suggestions, but rgatijnet1's idea of checking the '64 wiring did it. Yeah, I should have thought of that. To my surprise, the '64 wiring had the same negative voltage/polarity thing going on. Using the '64's pin-out as a clue, I was able to figure out the right combination of wires on the motorhome. It would have been nice if Tiffin stuck to GM's wire color scheme. But no, that would have been too easy. What should be the low beam wire (yellow) is actually the ground. I got the low beams to work on the low beam setting, but they'd go out when I put on the high beams. I moved the wires around again and now it's all working. I'm not going to pretend I know exactly why, but I've invested a good chunk of my Sunday trying to figure out what should have been a 15-minute job. Thanks again! good to hear like I said reverse polarity lol led just don't work that wayRe: Old School Wiring Gurus Please Step Inside (headlights) garry1p wrote: ragtijnet1 has a good idea but if that doesn't work you may have to install relays to redirect the voltage to the proper prongs. explain why? I don't get it? he said the polarity was reversed all he has to do is change thatRe: Norcolc 1200 cooling fan SCVJeff wrote: Mine is now Helium but I see between 0 to -5 depending on the ice maker, and 33 in the fridge. This with one fan mounted on the fridge roof circulating left to right. It may not make things colder, but everything is at the SAME temp regardless of where I measure, exactly like a residential unit. Dometic got smart and started including these fans a few years ago helium eh interesting and sounds like it cools better heck I cant hardly get my Residential fridge to 33 when its hot outsideRe: Old School Wiring Gurus Please Step Inside (headlights)TO NOTE: LED wont work on reverse polarity like a standard bulb willRe: Norcolc 1200 cooling fan Trackrig wrote: I'm using a remote digital thermometer unit. There's a sender in the freezer, refrigerator and outside at the front of the MH. It also provides the MH inside temps. It's very similar to this unit. It also records the min and max temps for each sensor. We don't use the ice maker so that I don't have to winterize it. We do use and keep bagged ice in the freeze. Ice cream is very soft in it. In the refer we have a three fan unit that attaches to the ceiling of the refer in front of the fins blowing air through them circulating it around the refer. Bill they never freeze Ice cream very hard;; when set on five it should be around 38 in the fridge and 10 or less in freezer;;I quit using the ice maker as all it did cause us to have to defrost freezer 3 times as often (moisture from water) I tried the interior fan thing never seemed to help;I put two fans that blow 24/7 at the back bottom of fridge pointing up and it seemed to really makes things work better;; all in all I was lucky I guess as my 1210 always worked fine for the 8 years I used itRe: Heat pump or propanethe roof AC heat pumps are without a doubt the most efficient and the most cost efficient way to heat a motor home;; the limitations are 1) only good down to the 32 -34 degree area 2) generally noisy compared to AHD or LPG forced air systems
