She put a dryer hose vent attached to the rooftop air register and hung it just inches above my head. Looks goofy, but I was COLD in any weather. Plant to do it again this summer.Re: Trion V10We've owned our 2011 for only 3 years and 15k miles. I'm impressed. It does wind up, but it may be the most effortless high rpm I've experienced. Very smooth and happy to be revving. From all my internet research, it seems to be in the top tier of all time reliability.Re: Thoughts on the Cost of RVingI've always been as "cheap" as they come. Yet, this expensive hobby has grabbed my attention and wallet. All it took was the first experience with my wife and kids to realize that my goals needed to shift away from preparing for the future and towards living in the present. I now have what I hope is a healthy balance, and we have created RV memories in the last 10 years that have no price tag. I will continue to do so...no matter the cost.Re: F53 suspension upgradesThe CHF made a marked improvement for us. Although, I only did the front. You guys are motivating me to try the rear. I was thinking of adding Sumo's soon, but will try the rear CHF first. In all, I could live with ours like it is. It's actually pretty nice unless we have a strong cross wind.Re: Tow vehicle adviceJim, just get the half ton now. We got our half ton (11,200 pound towing limit) when we were at 3500 pounds loaded. It was a beautiful experience....truly stress free towing. We moved up to 7k pounds after two years and didn't have to change the truck. Saved us many thousands and the hassle of changing. My personal rule is not to exceed 60% of max towing. More margin than most recommend. I don't know what payload numbers are like between the mids and the half tons? If it buys you a few hundred pounds more (sure it does), that would be very, very nice too.Re: Tow or drive the dinghy to the mountains? We unhook and drive separate for the steepest passes. We don't need to, but we do. A typical trip for us is about 5k miles. We drive 100 miles of it not towing. No big deal and makes us feel better.Re: A Primer on MoabThank you Ken! Using this as a resource for this coming summer. :)Re: Question for those pulling with an F150 Eco BoostTowed 7k cross country 5 times (40k towing) and put 80k miles on it without a single concern. Always had more easy torque on tap than I could ever need. Loved this truck.Re: Which campground at Custer State Park? We've been twice, and both times Blue Bell campground caught our eye as being interesting. The covered wagon tours for the Wildlife Loop seem to leave from there and it just has a vibe. On our third visit, that's where we'll be!Re: 5,000 mile F150 Ecoboost 10speed pulling 8,000 review SidecarFlip wrote: Don't consider 5K miles to be an adequate review of anything concerning longevity. report back in an additional 20K and let us know your impressions as well as what you've replaced, what broke and what you 'think' at that time. I've towed about the exact setup for 40k miles (towing) over 5 years. We crossed the country and mountain ranges each time. We switched to a motorhome now, but still have the truck with 80k miles on it. Haven't done a single thing outside of maintenance. Great write-up!
