Thanks it is generally advisable to lubricate the mechanical components of camper lift systems, including those on the Northstar 850SC, to ensure they operate smoothly and to reduce wear. When I initially read your post, I read it as not advisable to lube, looks like it would be OK to do so. I check out the lube that was recommended and give it a try. Thanks .:)Re: Heco lift systemThanks for the thoughts and lubricant recommendation. Awhile ago I read a post on another forum where a member disassembled his HECO lift system, cleaned and lubed the track and gear as well as reloaded the torsion spring - was thinking maybe some lube would keep things operating smoothly, but not so sure now. I was thinking of doing the disassembly in the future as the top progressively gets harder to crank up. I'm a little intimidated about disassembling the lift as I would need to support the top during the process. Anybody know of a RV outfit in the greater Portland, OR area that works on the HECO systems? I know they are no longer installed but you can still get parts. Tons of information on campgrounds of all types. - links to websites, reviews, photos, propane, dump stations, truck stops, low clearance, etc. Makes traveling without reservations easy. Includes everything from RV resorts to primitive free sites, including Wally World. Thanks, I'll check it out. I have used the Rec.gov app but this sounds more comprehensive.Re: Trip recommendationI appreciate all the suggestions. I read a good review about the KOA in Crescent City, the sites were not too jammed together. I also like the idea of Google Earth to see what the park or campground looks like. We plan to go in April or May so hopefully beat the crowds.Trip recommendationHi all, My DW and I would want to take the TC down to the southern Oregon coast - lived in Oregon my whole life and have never been. :) Here is what we would like to do, may be a tall order: we would like to find an RV park or nice campground within walking distance of the beach and town for restaurants etc. The ideal RV park or campground sites would not be too close together. Also, we would like to rent a car to take a day trip to the Redwoods. I know I could drop the camper but I don't want to mess with it on this trip. We are looking at the Brookings area or possibly Crescent City. Any recommendations on RV parks/campgrounds? ThanksRe: Road trip Portland OR to Las VegasI did some checking today and it looks like the TTP is going to extend the time for getting the interview completed, extra 100 days. We may cancel the road trip and get a more local interview or, take the road trip just to get out of the house and on the road. :) Thanks for the helpful info.Re: Road trip Portland OR to Las VegasThanks for the thoughts/suggestions. I'm a bit concerned about the availability of gas and places to stop for the night if I take the shortest google maps route - I5-58-95S. We had an interview scheduled in April at SeaTac airport but the feds cancelled, no interviews available at SeaTac or Blaine WA due to COVID. We need to get the interview completed by Sept. or we have to start over and pay another 200. If we make the road trip, I'll definitely need to do some good planning and recon to make sure places are open and accepting travelers. Strange times...Road trip Portland OR to Las VegasHi all, we need to get to the Las Vegas airport 6/24/20 to complete an interview for a Global Entry application with the Trusted Traveler Program. We're not too excited about flying so thought we would take a road trip with the Northstar camper. Thought is to drive day one, spend night in the camper about halfway down, drive second day and spend night close to Vegas and make our appointment on the third day. Question - for those of you who have made this drive, which route would you suggest considering availability of gas, camping/RV park. ThanksRe: NorthStar pop-ups 2 questionsWe have a 2005 850SC - second owner - had it for about 6 years. Have had no problems with the camper; seems to be very well made. I'm a bit claustrophobic by nature but have never felt uncomfortable lying in the cab over. One thing I love about the camper is you can open up the canvas - very nice on a sunny, hot day. :)
