Jetty Park Port Canaveral, Anastatia State Park, St Augustine...just a few... AndiRe: Continue camping or pet friendly hotelsIf you decide not to go the RV route, I suggest VRBO.com. (Vacation Rental By Owner) Prior to getting our first RV, we travelled to Colorado Springs a couple times a year with 2 Labs. Found a cute little pet friendly house that we rented 1-2 weeks, had fenced yard and never had a problem. We rented from the owner 3 times and after the first time, he never charged us our pet deposit again. We have friends that have used this site with great success. Way better than an hotel, especially since it had a great kitchen and I could cook instead of going out all the time. Good luck in your journey. Let us know what you decide. AndiRe: Winnebago Aspect - no roof ladderWe have a 2013 Aspect and it did not come with a ladder. Haven't missed it and as far as doing regular checks...we take it to our local RV repair place and Roger always checks it out for us...do it several times a year. Haven't missed it, and cleaning is easy from a regular ladder. The older we get (60's) the more we don't like climbing on the roof. We are planning a long trip and just had the roof checked and upon returning, will do the same. If for some reason you feel the need to have one, you can order one or make it part of the deal when purchasing. We love our Aspect!! Perfect for us....we travel with 3 Labs too and should really be looking at 42' DP's! But we like our size and the pups all have found their spots. Safe travels. AndiRe: Best Homemade CoffeeCoffee is my addiction...seriously. I've had many different coffee makers in my time and about 5 years ago went back to the old Faberware percolator coffee pot...and never looked back. Melitta Columbian coffee is my brand of choice, however, I do order Barnies creme brule and santas white christmas.... When traveling, we love to find little coffee shops along the way, same for local diners. Life doesn't get much better than camping, coffee and bacon cooked outside.... Anyone else use a percolator???Re: 30 amp and one air conditionerWe live in FL and have a 30' Winnebago Aspect. We camp a lot in FL...especially in Jacksonville and Tallahassee. We have one 15,000btu a/c and have travelled west several times. We did hit 108 degrees outside several times (Nevada) and our a/c just wouldn't cool the rig below about 82 degrees. We detoured from our original route because of the heat...not so sure a second a/c would help all that much in those conditions. We have found two things help: 1) about 30 minutes from our destination for the night, we turn on the generator and set the a/c down so its already cooled in the house compartment and 2) we purchased inside window sunblock shields...not the thin ones, the thicker ones, to deflect heat from inside and either use the curtain if just for one night or the exterior window shades for longer than one or two nights. Remember, if you are traveling to FL, if you stay close to beaches, you will get constant sea breeze (east coast anyway) starting in late day/evening. That all said...if you are buying new, I would negotiate the second a/c...wouldn't hurt thats for sure. As far as ducted vs non ducted....ducted a/c is much much quieter!! We've have both and much prefer ducted. Check manufacturer for insulation as that, too, is a key. And it wouldn't hurt to put the sunblock shields in all the windows, including skylights, during the day when the heat starts heading north! We store our rig with all windows with heavy sunblock and it really helps. Keep us informed as to what you purchase....and pictures please!! Safe travels in your future. AndiRe: My sewer hose got stolen...Glad to hear that this has happened to someone else. In all the years we have RV'd, the sewer hose is the only thing we had stolen!! Yuck! Ours was while we were camping and it was an extra length we kept in the storage tube...there one day, gone next morning. At least they didn't take the one we were using! Safe travels everyone. AndiRe: new winnie 35J owner....need input...im a rookieCongratulations on your new purchase! And welcome to the Winnebago family. I do have one suggestion that my husband and I have talked about doing for sometime now, and finally getting to it, take a notebook or an atlas that has room to write on and everywhere you go, make a note of places you have stopped and if you would go again/never go again. We are currently organizing a Colorado trip and been several times. However, its been a few years and I know there are some campgrounds we don't wish to visit again, but for the life of me...well, you get the idea. Your family is going to have a blast!! And the memories for the family are priceless. Andi And now you have a great hurricane evacuation vehicle or as we call ours, a get outta dodge house. Best wishes to your family and many safe travels.Re: Water coming in while drivingWILBURY We had the same problem on our '07 Lexington and it was the wheel well. Took all of 15 minutes to fix. Good luck and safe travels. AndiRe: First we track, then we swimToo Much Fun!Re: pet sitters?Dog Daycares are very helpful. We have two 9yr old labs that are fine by themselves....we also have a 10 month old Lab that loves his exercise!! So we have found daycares along the way, always look them up for reviews if you use them. Last one we used, our little guy came home totally exhausted...met another Lab his age and they did their best to wear each other out...they succeeded. That was one very quiet night! I would hesitate to use dog walkers, mainly because I don't want to give my keys to someone I don't know. Enjoy your travels.
