Not sure if the quality is impacted. Do you know when this happened? I just don't trust Thor as a company. Tiffin has had quality control issues for years prior to the Thor acquisition just like many other coach builders. Thor has left the day to day operations in the hands of Tiffin with Leigh Tiffin as President. There has been no significant change in those operations since the acquisition. Why would Thor purchase Tiffin for millions of dollars if they didn't want it to succeed? It certainly wasn't for proprietary reasons as the only thing Tiffin had was its PowerGlide chassis which is going to be discontinued. My 2009 Phaeton was a nightmare coach while my 2017 has been excellent so far (knock on wood).Re: Is there any REAL quality out there?Tiffin coaches are built in Red Bay, AL, but they're definitely not built any better than a Newmar.Re: Driver’s license for DPs willald wrote: Yes, every state is different. I know in NC, anything over 26,001 lbs GCWR, you are technically supposed to have a non-CDL class B. However, I have learned over the years that not many people that own DPs actually go and get that B license, and most law enforcement officers either do not know about this license requirement, or do not care. I have a friend I have known for almost 20 years in the RV sales business. A few years ago, I asked him about this issue with licensing, and larger Motorhomes. He and his dealership sells tons of DPs, and have for many years. He told me that although they are required by law to inform customers buying DPs of the license rules (and they do)...None of his customers ever have got the upgraded license. Nor have any ever had a problem, that he knows of. Furthermore, he told me how he and other sales reps he works with drive the big DPs all over the state to various RV shows his dealership is in. None of the sales reps have a B license. And, yes, he has been stopped a couple of times, and law enforcement officers always either don't know or don't care about this issue, as nobody has been cited for it that he knows of. At any rate, I am not advocating anybody ignore the law about this. Just wanted to point out that in some cases, laws like this are not enforced or noticed much. This is actually one of the reasons I prefer gasser Motorhomes that stay under that 26k limit. I would definitely not want to have to get a special license to drive our RV (even if the law doesn't enforce such). IMHO it's not law enforcement you need to be worried about, however it is the ambulance chasing attorneys if you're ever involved in an accident, at fault or not.Re: Need a new toad-a sporty oneMight want to take a look at a Fiat Abarth. I believe BlueOx makes base plates for models up to 2019 or 2018.Re: Gas cards and any tips for the full time class a dieselI have been a TSD/Open Roads card holder pretty much from its inception for RVers early in 2019. Its intention was never to provide the lowest possible price at any location. Its intention was to provide a discount at the major truck stops, ie; Love's and TA/Petro nationally, and some regional locations such as Sapp Bros. In addition to the discount the main reasons to use the program is the locations are right off the freeway, easy access to the pumps, relatively short wait times and no pump shut-offs at a particular dollar amount.Re: Torn between two used Class A need help wanderingaimlessly wrote: one point no one else has made is the tranny. 2017 and up will have the 6 speed tranny which everyone that has driven both it and the old 5 speed much prefers. As to brands and models, personally with everything else being equal, I would avoid rubber roofed units. I just prefer a solid skin like the Winnies, Georgetowns, Jayco's and Entegra's. My 2009 Tiffin coach on a Freightliner chassis had the Allison 3000MH which was a six speed transmission.Re: Water ingestion in engine on 2011 Tiffin Phaeton 36QSH lperegrine wrote: We have our 2011 40QBH currently in a diesel shop with water in the oil. Calling Tiffin service. Since this is a post from 2019, can you update me? The OP (6string) may no longer be subscribed to this thread. I would suggest sending him a private message just in case.Re: Jeep toad ? 53 willys wrote: We are looking for a Jeep Wrangler preferably a stick shift What is your budget range?Re: best way to remover stickers from a 2011 tiffin open roadI don't know if you're talking about factory or owner applied decals/stickers. While the methods to remove them can vary, I have found the best way of removing the adhesive is with a Rubber Eraser Wheel
