FORTUNATELY holding up the awning.. If you read my older post on repairing the upper awning strip, you know this contraption was installed HORRIBLY wrong.. Problem with my RV is, you can't get to the floor line on the body, so you're stuck screwing into the side wall. But even still, you could have at least done it right and not ruined the wood and all behind the arm mount.. Anyways.. here;s pics of my repair.. I basicly made 2 steel plates.. 1/4" thick.. and sandwiched the wall between them with long coated carriage bolts. oooh.. and at the same time, I ended up re-doing the stairway carpet.. It's not the greatest, but one day, I'm completely redoing the inside, so.. this was just to get by for now. Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???Thanks! I will try to post pics of everything i end up doing.. she's got a few projects in her that i need to tackle. Wish i had taken pics of the spring repair.Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???I cleaned off the old silicone and nasty mess from my awning's previous installer. The 1/2 inch self tapping sheet metal screws were absolutely the wrong thing to put into the side of a fiberglass skinned RV.. 1.5" STAINLESS self tapper sheet metal screws are the thing to use. Was finally able to UN-duct tape my awning from the side of the RV and put the awining strip back on CORRECTLY. I also repaired my awning end cap/spring assembly and saved myself $200... Was a productive weekend for sure. Of course, having a loading dock to work with makes this job MUUCH much easier.. haha woohoo.. she's back on!!.. almost.. need to get new upper support arm mounts as they are bent. as well as get the correct screws to SECURLY fasten them to the body.. Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???used up a half a roll of GorilLa Tape to secure the 2 new(used) MAXXAIR vent covers on the roof cause of high winds and rain coming.. have not had a chance to permanently mount them yet.. also had to cover up 16 feet of awning mounting strip holes because some KNOB, instead of replacing the old steel self tapper screws that were ROTTED away, they simply GLUED the strip back on.. yesterday while reinstalling my repaired return spring assembly, i hear this pealing sound.. just in time to watch the last 3 ft peel off the RV and send the awning crashing down.. I pulled the legs off and just flipped the retract lever.. watched it flop on the ground while rolling itself back up and shoved it under the RV.. If it ain't one thing......................................
