If the kids want to borrow it, I recommend they consider Cruise America or buy a MH for themselves.Re: Mountain DrivingEnjoy the trip down as well as up. Go slow, the additional 10 minutes to your travel time should not be a big deal. It's better to be late than never! I have a V10 with Tow/Haul button and you it all the time. Texas to Colorado and 2 passes. I just go slow up and down. Give dog peanut butter smeared on a paper plate and causes their ears to pop due to the swallowing. Everyone is happy and safe. We usually drink a bottle of water and chew a tums for each 2500' in elevation we gain to stop the altitude headaches.Re: How about a RGV updateThere are plenty of news articles (with real facts and some not real statements), plenty of medical resources and plenty of medical recommendations to substantiate your individual opinions. Politics should not be part of this discussion. Each individual has the right to their own health and safety without being offended that others do not concur.Re: Montrose or Glenwood Springs areaYou stated "We are looking for cool temps, good golf, fly fishing, hiking, medical, decent grocery shopping, and fun people." Have you looked at Fun Valley near South Fork, Colorado. It's 8500'. Lots of nice people, some young and some not so young. Private park with most everything you wish is very close or less than 1 hr away. Check it out online. August is a great time. COVID-19 has been an issue for just about every RV park this year. They have a good Facebook site that shows lots of the park and things to do. Good luck and have a great time.Re: Rocky Mountain National Park to Cheyenne Mountain State ParkNot really a good path for your trip other than right thru Denver. 36 to 66 to I-25 then enjoy the traffic. You can go around on toll road, but expensive, even with NTTA tag. Castle Rock is always a pain and with construction, it adds time and more white knuckle driving than I like, but can be done. Getting to I-25 between 9:30-10:00 AM is not bad and gets you to Air Force Academy before noon. That's my 2 cents, have fun!Re: Class A V-10 mileageI normally get between 5.5 and 7.5 MPG going to Colorado and back. I feel it is uphill most of the way there and uphill most of the way home(haha). Engine is working great at 65 mph. My toad is a 4 door Jeep Wrangler.Re: How to calculate the cost of RVing Walaby wrote: Cloud Dancer wrote: Yes, the cost of the depreciation is easy to figure out, and to most people it makes us look like dumb lousy money managers. If it's true, I don't want to hear about it. I agree.. I don't care how others spend their money, and I don't care about others opinions on how I spend mine. Mike I can 2nd this attitude. Who cares what others say, think or do, if I am enjoying my time and can afford it, let me be me.Re: 2019 SummerI too will be heading to Colorado. Fun Valley @ South Fork. I have also stayed at Priest Gulch campground and loved it.Re: MPG for Various Class A MotorhomesA heavy foot can degrade the MPG very fast. I drive F-53, V-10, Itasca at 66-67 and average about 6.3 with Jeep in tow. Little less going to the mountains ans a little less coming down. 6.5 on flat roads.Re: 12 night trip: CA to UT & CO Natl. ParksIMO, you will need at least 1 day at Great Sand Dunes, so make reservations for the night and get there early and you will need sunscreen & BUG SPRAY! Mesa Verde is a long day to drive in and out (keep in mind that some parts are closed now and you can't see some of the best parts). You can take a small side-trip and go a little south to Aztec and see ruins that are very similar to Mesa Verde. Rocky Mountain is great in summer. Small hikes and great time for family (Sept/Oct is my favorite time for elk bugling). Also, North Rim of Grand Canyon is neat for one afternoon/evening. Go slow over Wolf Creek pass and enjoy some time in Pagosa Springs for tubing and soaking.
