New to a fifth wheel and just had my hitch installed. I notice that the hitch is attached to the bed rails with four pins. Has anyone ever had their hitch stolen from the bed of their truck? Maybe I am seeing a potential problem that doesn't really exist. Thanks. I pick up my fifth wheel on Thursday. Looking forward to that.HitchI own a Ram 2500 cc with the Cummins engine, 3.73 rear end. I am currently towing a travel trailer and am starting researching moving to a fifth wheel. Would anyone know if the hitch for a fifth wheel is generally part of the purchase price? Thanks.Re: Need check list for Arizona storageWe are full time Arizona residents and have a travel trailer. When we store it between trips we close it up. No vents or windows open. We turn everything off, remove the batteries and place a battery tender on each battery to maintain their charge. We are not hooked up to power so no A/C. We clean the refrigerator, turn it off, and leave the doors open a little just to keep it dry so no mold grows inside. We cover the tires and put the stabilizer jacks down. We also put that aluminum waffle like insulation sheet over each window to keep the sun out. One thing we have noticed is that no matter what we do the plastic parts inside and out will fade and change colors from white to an off yellow creamy color. We cover the awning with a sunshield otherwise the sun will fade and and eventually cause it to deteriorate. Every several months I climb up on the roof and check all the sealant for cracks if I find any I put on new sealant. It ma seem like a lot but not really. We have been RVing for many years and have lived in Arizona for over 40 years. Good luck and welcome to the desert. You will love it. You never have to shovel sunshine.Re: Rear kitchensWe have a Heartland North Trail 26RKS. No problems.Re: How to convert to LED lightingI noticed in your post you stated you were able to modify your existing lights by soldering the wires of the LED's to the appropriate locations. What locations were you referring to? Would it be possible to post or send a photo? ThanksRe: Trailer Tire wearI did some more research and found the tires on my trailer have a weight capacity of 3520 lbs per axle, but the axles are rated at 3600 lbs. Should the tires have an equal or greater carrying capacity? The tires are brand name H188ST.Re: Trailer Tire wearI weighed the trailer and it is well within specs. The tires are correct per the sticker on the trailer. I know the tires have not been operated under inflated. I have two very accurate tire pressure gauges that I use to check the pressure in all my tires. The only problem tires are the trailer tires. Thanks everyone for the advice. I will discuss with the dealer.Trailer Tire wearOn May 1st I purchased a new 2011 travel trailer. I have taken three trips for a total of approximately 600 miles. I noticed last week that all four tires are showing abnormal wear on the inner and outer edges. The trailer came with ST205/75R14C tires. The MFG. date is 26-10. I inflate them to 50 PSI which is the recommended pressure on the sidewalls. I have used several different tire pressure gauges to cross check the gauges and tire pressures. The trailer has only been towed on pavement and not above 65 mph. The trailer is currently at the dealer for some warranty work and when I mentioned the tire issue the service writer said that he did not think the tires would be a warranty item. He said something about the way the trailer is turned may be causing the wear. My question is are the tires a warrant item? Also should the tires with only 600 miles be wearing the way I described? I stopped by a local tire store and was told the tires should be replaced. I understand the tire store is in the business of selling tires but will the trailer be safe to tow without new tires.
