Why are some of the DP owners on here so defensive when it comes to their rigs. Not all or even the majority, Mr. Mark for example is very helpful to ALL Class A owners. But there are some that really get their hackles up if a gas owner suggests that in one little area there may be an advantage of a gasser over DP. Relax, we are not saying we are smarter than you for buying a gasser. My guess is most gas owners have seriously considered buying a DP at one time or another. In my particular case, you can afford something that I probably can't, and that's fine. I love seeing those big 45' rigs with the enclosed matching trailers. Those things are just awesome. That being said, gas is what works for me. If I had an $11,000 repair bill more than a couple times, I would be out of RVing. I know there can be big expenses with a gas unit as well, I just think the odds are a little bit better for me, a person with limited reserves, with a gasser. I just get the feeling that some would prefer this forum to be split into Class A diesel and Class A gas. Ezackely. I've owned both over the last 40 plus yrs. A DP can make you regret buying one when repairs are needed. I've spent over 10k in maintenance on mine in the last 8 months. The emission equipped DP's are costly to repair. The place that works on mine is seeing many Cummins motor homes and commercial trucks with 40k miles needing expensive turbo, VGT controller and EGR replacement just like mine needed. Keep your check book close by. You'll need it.Re: Diesel Pusher BluesEmission equipment on a diesel is a disaster for your engine. Many are having the same issues around 40 to 60k miles. Mine has 60k and I just spent 5,000.00 on repairs. Turbo, VGT controller and EGR. 2009 ISB 350Re: 2005 Journey 34H opinionsI had an 06 Journey. It never gave me any trouble and The 350 Cat was flawless. Lot's of nice features. I traded it in on a new Newmar. It wasn't long before I wished I had my Journey back.Re: I test drove my first motorhome today - NoisyDP vs Gas noise only pertains to the drivers area. Noise in the rear can be very annoying in a DP but extremely quiet in a gasser. Front noise in a gasser is only a problem on steep hills when it downshifts and the rpm gets high. New gassers are very quiet front to rear on fairly flat land and with 22.5 tires the ride and handling is great. I've owned all of them. Freightliner, Roadmaster, Spartan and several gas units.Re: walmart overnight parkingI refuse to shop at Walmart so I don't think it's right for me to use their parking lot. We use Cracker Barrel when possible. Great place for breakfast before hitting the road.Re: Looking for my first 40 ft diesel pusher bazdad wrote: What I needed to know, is the Winnebego 2004 Journey Series M-39K comearable to the Monaco Camelot or the Newmar Dutch Star? Is the unit a good proven unit? Thanks for all inputs. I just sold my 2006 Journey 39k. We put many trouble free miles on it. I now have a Newmar Ventana and the Journey is way ahead of it. I should have kept it.Re: Looking for my first 40 ft diesel pusher 2gypsies wrote: No, the Winnebago is not comparable to a Dutch Star which is much better made.
