When not in use, the bar rotates to hide under the hood. JM2¢...Re: Black water gate valve replacement bmwbob wrote: You know how hard it is to find milk in a CARTON any more? I had to buy a half gallon of orange juice! ?? Bob I used a couple of pieces of thin sheet aluminum flashing. Use plumbers grease on the O-rings prior to sandwiching with the flashing. Don't forget to lub the o-ring grooves in both pieces of piping. JM2¢...Re: "Sectioned" Class A Models?Presently own a Challenger 371, the predecessor of the 37KT. Great layout. Can live in the unit with all slides in. We change the direction we sleep when the rear slide is in. Nice thing about the unit is that the bed does not move - it is not in the slide section. Great during winter camping for heat retention. JM2¢...Re: I want to install a 12V digital volt meterI installed a self-powered voltmeter (under $5) that monitors the auxiliary (coach) battery buss. It’s mounted in the dashboard above the Generator run-hour meter and is connected to an auxiliary (coach) battery terminal on the BCC battery isolator solenoid through a 1A fuse. This allows for continuous monitoring while driving. By monitoring the auxiliary battery buss: One, with the engine and shore power/generator OFF – I know the charge condition of the coach batteries. Two, with the engine ON – I know the charge condition of the coach/chassis batteries, the functionally of the BIRD, and the output of the engine alternator. And three, with shore power/generator ON – I know the charge condition of the coach/chassis batteries, functionally of the BIRD, and output of power converter. I bought (from Jennyear on eBay) a self-powered Green 3~30V (12V) Mini Digital DC LED Battery Voltmeter and bezels (items 130875885643 & 140940500425).Re: Breakaway car Dutch_12078 wrote: It would be interesting to know if Demco added the reinforcing gussets to the base plate kit after several weld failures were reported. Looked at the three different models baseplates for the different years of Equinoxes. They all seem to have them, but may be the early years were re-designed. JM2¢...Re: Breakaway carJust read this article for the second time. I own a Chevy product with a Demco baseplate, so I was concerned to see if this was a generic issue with Chevy or Demco. Can't tell for sure if the baseplate is Demco or not, but I went to the Demco website and downloaded the installation manual for the Equinox. Looking at the photos, it seems as though the spot welds attaching the bumper mounting plate to the sub-frame are broken. If this is a Demco baseplate, upper and lower brackets are provided to bolt extra support gussets behind the spot-welded bumper mounting plate to the frame. These appear to be missing on the subject vehicle. I have not checked other baseplate manufacturers installation plans, but spot-welded components should not be placed under this type of stress without re-enforcement. It looks to me that the installation was done improperly or incompletely if this was a Demco. I'm not defending Demco but I am trying to apply the lessons learned so that this type of occurrence does not happen to me. I witnessed an incident where the hitch receiver became unbolted from a MH's frame. I now annually sound my receiver's mounting bolts. By the way, I verified my installation and noted that my baseplate is re-enforced by additional bolting into the sub-frame channels. The best use of any forum is to understand the actions and inter-actions of components and learn from other's experiences. JM2¢...Re: Damon quality?I have a 2008 Damon (then owned my Thor). Everyone has their own opinions. I like my unit. Had a problem with Damon/Thor but it was resolved adequately. I am on the three major forums. The components selected by Damon/Thor are the replacement components recommended by the members of the forums. Never had a problem with the converter, range, microwave, Battery Control center, generator, etc. Looked at a lot of manufacturer and multitude of models. The fit and finish, when I bought the unit, was as good as Winnebago. JM2¢...Re: Brake Buddy FailuresOnce, i installed my BB improperly. I had adjusted the seat to far forward and the BB was pushing, not activated, on the brake pedal. Got to the 1st stoplight and noticed drag on the coach. The TOAD normally can't be felt when towing. Stopped and re-adjusted the BB properly. Took off again with no drag on the coach. This was an operator error induced problem and the only one I've had in seven yeay using the BB. The convience of the 3 rooms makes it a fantastic RV for FT or occassional guests. Sometimes we don't deploy the front slides, especially in winter or short term stays. Many pass through basement compartments for added storage. Did a minor mod to the furnace for better heat control. This a good ticket for fulltiming in a gas unit. JM2¢...but I'm biased Teddyu, does the doors rattle loudly while driving down the road? Do you have to open the bedroom slide to sleep? Because sometimes if we are on the road to a destination and I would prefer to just stop at a rest area so I can take a nap without opening the slide and then get back on the road again. Doors are captured with locks, no noticable noise from the four of them. I don't need to open the diningroom/bedroom slide to sleep. We can get to the bedroom through the bathroom. When we do this we change the direction we sleep from athwarthship to longitudinal for the night. As for the carrying capacity, mine is on a 22K chassis. When last weighed in normal traveling mode (all the toys and food) with 1/2 fuel, full propane and freshwater, and 2 people, still had 2100 lbs reserve capacity. I tow a Cobalt and my gross combined vehicle weight is 22600 lbs for the 26K GCVWR.Re: water pump issueDid you ever check the pump inlet strainer as advised before? JM2¢...
