Think that should take any flex out.Re: New Axles in, now new questionI already have everything together and finished now. I searched on internet to see what the EZFlex was and wish I'd have known about them. Like the wet bolts I didn't know about until I was ready to go together last week and had to wait a week for them to come in. Re: New Axles in, now new questionOk, got it done. Took some experimenting with the jack but figured it out and have what I need. Posting photo. Me Again...I do like the idea you have about welding the square tubing across the hangers and thanks for the pictures. I'm not a welder but my youngest son is so he can have that project.New Axles in, now new question2001 Jayco Quest 28ft Changed both bent axles, new bushings, new hanger kit, wet bolts. I finished everything yesterday evening but I don't have that "W" at the equalizer like I was expecting. I put 3 photo links below so maybe on will work. What I did at assembly was, hang everything with bolts finger tight, bolted everything using 9/16 grade five wet bolts torqued to 70+, put on tires, and let everything down. I haven't greased the wet bolts yet because was out of grease but will do that today. Should it have that "W" or do I need to do something else to get it? Axle hanger Re: Question bolting up new axles...I also stopped yesterday and talked with the shop foreman that does trailer alignment and said pretty much what ya'll guys said. With new bushings in everything, new hanger kit, etc when I bolt everything up it should be where factory put it assuming frame hasn't been bent. He also suggested to bring by when I finish and they will check alignment for me at no charge. Thanks again, DennisRe: Question bolting up new axles... socoguy wrote: Would be an opportune time to add wet bolts (greasable zerk fittings). Bolts should be set flush. Your photo worked fine. I stopped yesterday and picked up the greasable bolts I need for this. Only had 7 in stock but will have the others in this week. I will wait to finish bolting axles up until they get here. Thanks, DennisRe: Question bolting up new axles...Thanks guys. I have grade 5 bolts so will pull them to 60 lbs. I didn't know about the wet kit for the hangers and trailer supply place didn't mention them as an option, sure wish I'd known. I figured that if I kept the bolts centered I'd be ok on alignment of axles but the suggestion of having them checked probably worth doing. This was my first travel trailer of three and still like using it for short trips. I've probably spent more keeping it up than I should have but we set up at gun shows, flea markets, etc and 28 ft great for getting around civic center parking lots and still plenty room for my wife and I for weekend shows. DennisQuestion bolting up new axles...Have 2001 Jayco Quest 28 ft I've dropped old axles and ready to bolt up new axles. Changing the spring hangers, all bushings and new electric brake assemblies. The new 1/2" bolts going in have grooves behind the bolt head. How tight should I go on these bolts?... is there a torque I should use? I've attempted to link a photo of a bolt in center hanger bracket but not too good at this so may or may not work. Dennis Photo of a new bolt in hangerRe: What to seal Water Heater with around RV bodyThanks much, will get that. What to seal Water Heater with around RV body2001 Jayco Quest 5th Wheel, 6 Gal Atwood Water Heater... Had to remove the water heater to replace cold water shut off valve. It appears that it was sealed with plumbers putty between water heater and RV body, is that right? If not what would be correct material to seal with when I return the water heater into the cavity?
