Same problem, overheating tank fuel pump.Ford 360Re: fuel water separator filterDrove charter buses over 25 years. Carried quarts of transmission fluid and strap wrench. Would get clogged fuel filters once in a while. The older buses didn't have electric pumps in the tank so you would have to prime the filter. I never put in a dry filter and the t-fluid would lube the fuel pump. Hardest part was getting to the filters. Good luck.Re: Are Air Suspension Motor Homes DangerousIn my 30 years of driving every type of charter bus on the road and discussing every type of bus accidents at the safety meetings I have never heard of air bags being the cause of accidents. I know a driver that lost a rear air bag in Amarillo, Tx. And had to drive it back to San Antonio that way because the charter was behind schedule. Other thdan awkward there were no problems.Re: So diesels dont like to sit....I was a charter bus operator over 25 years. The majority of my runs were in the Gulf Coast area(HIGH HEAT/HIGH HUMIDITY!). When on a trip less than 24 hours I would engage the high idle and sleep on the bus with the ac on. The engines were good for at least 450,000 miles before work was needed. When I need to idle my engine I make sure the high idle is on. 97 Monoco 325 CumminsRe: Retard switchHaving operated charter buses over 25 years the retarder worked off the transmissiom once you engaged the retarder switch. The latest coaches had a small stick shift to downshift as you needed it to keep from overheating your brakes. Turn it off when you level off as it will overheat your transmission oil and in turn overheat the engine. Also, turn it off in the rain. I knew a driver that left it on on a curve while it was raining and when he backed off the acclerator the transmission downshifted and he lost control of the bus and wrecked. All in all they're a brake saver in the mountains. Good luck.Re: Steering Wheel CoversI have a 97 Monoco and had the same problem finding a steering wheel cover to fit the motorhome. Pep Boys carries the rv steering wheel cover for about 6 or 7 dollars. It's a wrap around type but it fits ok. Good luck!Re: Cost to re-pack wheel bearings on Class A?Rear wheel bearings are oil lubricated from the oil in the differential and do not need to be repacked. Front wheel bearings do and you can ask the shop what they charge for a front bearing repack.Re: Safari or MonacoBought our third mh from PPL in New Braunfels,Tx in June. Three days later in Grant,NM I could not hold the mh on the road when I applied the brakes. Four days later and $2100. all the trailing arm bushings(Monoco defect) had to be replaced. It's a good looking 97 but buyer beware!Re: How Long To Get A Tire Replaced Via Roadside ServiceIn 08 waited 4 hours outside Deming, NM. Had to bring the tire guy from Las Cruses, NM for our Georgie Boy. I had a spare. In June of this year I waited over 4 hours outside of Truth or Consequences,NM. AAA finally found a tire guy from a construction company to bring a tire and change it on our Monoco Dynasty. Spent the night at Wal Mart in Las Cruses and had all new tires installed from Big O.Re: SOS stuck in campground Allison downWhen I drove charter buses this would happen once in a while. The shop would tell me to turn the battery switch off for a couple of minutes to reset the computer. This usually worked. Good luck.
