Anyone else notice? This is a new problem. I recall a fellow RV'er spent quite a bit of time fixing this issue last time it happened. Yes I believe it was back in 2013. Wish I could remember the guy who finally got them to fix it. I think he must have spent a couple of weeks on it. I hate to talk to the CSR on the phone, can't understand them (they say they're speaking English), but Directv has a Facebook page and I posted a complaint there. Got a "Social Media Specialist" on Messenger who told me to refresh my receiver. Grrrr! Anyway, if everyone posts on FB and the AT&T tech site, at least they can't say "You're the only one who's complained."Re: Direct TV DVR Bill.Satellite wrote: DTV does not know anything about RVing. You got that right! And they don't care either!Re: Direct TV DVRWell I got on the "technical support" (and I use the term very loosely) page today and found that I wasn't the only one with this question. Following is the response: "What happened is that this feature was removed from the latest update in early March. Now you must download your Genie DVR recordings to view them away from home. Or get a SlingBox." So, how do I download the DVR recordings? Where do I download them to? Most of the places we camp have no cell phone service and no internet. I'm assuming one needs one or the other for streaming or Sling? Oh and I must clarify... I logged in to my Direct TV website and selected "Technical Forum" which promptly dumped me into the AT&T page. Grrrr!Re: Direct TV DVRInterestingly enough, I can go to Menu/Manage Recordings/Recording History and go thru them one by one, all 800 of them including those cancelled or deleted, and select one to watch. Takes forever.Re: Direct TV DVR chuckbear wrote: It will not work without the dish attached and the power inserter on to feed the LNB. Chuck It worked 2 months ago without the dish attached and we've used it for several years that way. Just take the box, connect to the TV with HDMI cable and watch previously recorded programs.Re: Direct TV DVR Bill.Satellite wrote: What receiver are you using a power inserter? If so, have you tried it connected and disconnected from the PI? Grabbing at straws here! It's a Genie 3, HR54-500. Dunno about the power inserter unless that's the black box on the electric cord?Re: Direct TV DVR Bill.Satellite wrote: As I recall you have to skip past that message somehow. I just can't remember what. Clear, exit, back, something. Sorry, haven't tried it in awhile. A year or 2 back the DVR's would not let you watch recorded programming if the DVR was powered off and not re-connected to an antenna but a software update fixed that. I hope DTV didn't break it again. Yeah, I remember that. I was so pleased when they fixed it, and I really hope they haven't "improved" anything lately!Re: Direct TV DVR CA Traveler wrote: Did you power everything off and retry? Did you try again at home without the dish connected? I powered down, disconnected the dish then turned it on again. Let it go through the "receiver self-check", then the Step 1 of 2 "Checking satellite settings". Changed the input to HDMI. I get the screen that says "There's a problem communicating with the satellite dish.(775)" OK I get that, since it's not connected. Then I went to Menu/View Playlist and the progress bar shows up with "please wait" over it, and that's where it stays. I did go to the Trouble Shooting menu and it does say that we should be able to watch recorded programs from the DVR without the dish. Also did a hard reset with the little red button, same results. I guess I'm gonna have to break down and make the phone call to DTV, not something I'm looking forward to.Direct TV DVRUsually when we go for just a few days, we take our Direct Tv DVR and watch recorded programs in the evening for entertainment, not bothering to set up the satellite antenna. However on our most recent trip when I asked for the "List", it said it was "loading" .... for 30 minutes! Needless to say no recorded shows were loaded. Is this something new since Direct's latest "update"? Once we were home and connected to the satellite, everything worked as usual. Any ideas?Re: texas hill countryWe stayed at Potters Creek COE, and really liked it. The town of Canyon Lake is 8 miles away, and has a nice grocery store and a number of restaurants. Wimberly is a neat little town with quaint shops, the Wimberly Glassworks, etc. We were there the second week in April and most of the blue bonnets had already bloomed, but there were lots of other wildflowers adorning the roadside. BTW, when they say "Hill Country" that's exactly what they mean!
