I have a GMC Sierra 4X4 with good winter tires. I do have cable chains. Thanks in advance.Fridge for a Class BWe have recently purchased a '93 Dodge camper van. It is in amazingly good condition with low miles and mechanically sound. Somebody in its past has removed the Dometic 3 way fridge and replaced it with a 110 volt bar fridge. I would like to revert it back to a 3 way as we do a lot of off grid camping. The Dometic and Norcold fridges are stupidly expensive and out of stock almost everywhere I look. There is a Unique 3 way fridge that would fit in the available space for half the price. It is intended for cottage use and says not for RV. It looks to be almost identical as far as the LP gas and venting compared to the RV 3 way fridges. Do I save myself over a thousand dollars and use this one? I do have LP gas and CO detectors in the van so I'm sure that I am covered safety wise.Re: Over or Under? And unless you want to get in touch with your inner self, don't buy that cheap one ply toilet paper.Re: Flooring ReplacementI replaced the ugly vinyl in my kitchen/dining/living room with Duradeck. The stuff is just about bulletproof and super easy to clean. I've been using it in boats for years and it has stood up well.Re: Trailer Hitch/Accident ConcernsI hit some black ice and spun out in my then new Dodge Dakota. The hitch receiver smacked on the concrete divider. There wasn't a scratch anywhere else on the back of the truck but the hitch looked like it might be bent. I tool it to friend's body shop and the repair bill was around $3K. The frame was bent along with the hitch.Re: Where do you put the big cabelas recline chairsAll my loungers and deck chairs ride in the bath tub.Re: Black Tank Handle pulled out of valve Chris Bryant wrote: You can cut the valve right at the body, reach and pull the blade with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you don't pull it all the way, you won't loose much- even if you pull it all the way it isn't too awful. A bad pic of where to cut- I will suit up, get a puke bucket ready and give this a try. Thanks.Black Tank Handle pulled out of valveLast fall before I put the fiver to bed for the winter, I replaced both the grey and black tank valves as they were leaking slightly. I lubricated the slides with silicone grease and they slid back and forth quite easily. We used the trailer last weekend and when I went to dump the tanks, the rod on the black tank valve pulled out of the slide. I didn't reef on the handle, just pulled it as I normally would. No amount of playing with it would get the valve to open. Now what do I do? There's about 10 gallons of ickys in the tank and short of unbolting the valve and having pour out on the ground, how do I empty the tank so that I can replace the valve again?Re: Washing Machine OdorI had the repair guy in to check on the smell from my new top loader washing machine. I replaced the old one because of it was smelling no matter what I did. I thought that being 15 years old, a seal had gone and oil was getting into the tub. The repair guy asked what temp cycle we were using. I told him that I had always used warm/warm. Then my new house partner who had taken over most of the laundry duties coreccted me and said that she was using cold/cold because that's what the laundry detergent said was okay. He advised us to go back to at least warm/warm and see if the smell went away. It did. Fast forward a few years. New house partner, new house, brand new front load washer and drier. After a few weeks of use, the towels started to stink. We had faithfully dried the washer after each use and left the door propped open. Then I remembered the previous washing machine problems. I checked and the default setting for the washer was cold/cold. I changed it to warm/warm and after a few cycles of using hot/hot, the smell went away. I've used it now for 3 years and no more smell problems.Re: fire banI have a set of old artificial electric fireplace logs. The type with the light bulb inside of a coloured rotating drum. During campfire bans, I put it in the fire ring, plug it into the inverter and wait to see how many fellow campers try to rat me out to the campground host.
