I pulled into a RV park that wasn't really public (at an airport and just used for events). Plugged in and 3 foot flames shot out. The surge protector kept my Travel Trailer safe and sound.Re: RV Trip PlanningI only make reservations for areas with heavy tourist traffic such as National Parks, etc and my primary destinations where I intend to stay for extended periods. For overnight I guestimate where I think I'll stop and start calling mid afternoon. On the road I use the allstays website and rvparkreviews.com. Both have provided me with some very nice campsites.Re: Sway Control on the Truck QuestionSway control on my F150 is nothing but rapid braking to slow my ass down in a controlled manner. When it kicks it, it means that I'm already deep in doodoo. I've only had it kick in twice. Both times I had sway control on my hitch, so I was really doing stupid stuff. The first time I was towing my 19' TT way to fast when a truck passed the opposite direction. The 2nd time, I was going slightly faster than I should have for the conditions when I hit an extremely strong crosswind. Basically, it gets you safely slowed down to the speed that you should have been at to begin with.Re: Overhead A/C wont shut off fan when Temp is reachedOoops edited to add. I just realized that you stated that you had a non-ducted AC. The info below applies to my ducted AC. When I had a non-ducted I never did figure out how to turn the fan off. Find and read the manual for your thermostat. My Dometic thermostat has Auto, Hi and Low settings. On Auto, the fan turns off when the AC turns off. It didn't really bother me that the fan ran all the time until I discovered that the furnace caused the AC fan to run all the time even though the furnace was in the floor and had its own blower. I was investigating replacing the thermostat when I stumbled upon the manual for mine and discovered it was a simple change at the thermostat.Re: Keystone Bullet. Good choice?Keystone quality control sucks. Virtually every fastener in my travel trailer needed to be tightened. Screws fell out everywhere and the things that they attached fell off. I don't think that the factory owns a screwdriver, but if you have one just go over everything before and after your first trip. I even had one of the lugs come loose on the back of the power inlet which caused me to have no power on half of my 50 amp as we pulled into the first campground on our first trip in the trailer. Was an easy fix when I got home and could pull the power center out, but for 2 weeks I only had half my power.Re: led light stripI just used the adhesive that was on the LED light set and installed it 1-2 inches below the awning. It has lasted over 5000 miles so far. I ran the power supply down the inside of the power awning track. There was already a plastic conduit to cover the power for the awning. I just ran my wire beside it and then underneath to the battery. Easy install.Re: Anyone ever call a Standby Sam member?I've been a member of Good Sam Club for about 3 years and didn't know this program existed. It may be buried in the onslaught of brochures, emails, mailings, etc that I've received from them, but to be honest all of that stuff quickly becomes trash as soon as I receive it. I use their discount at the store and at campgrounds. Guess I better go read up to see what else I'm missing.Re: Google is Hogging my Data AllotmentTry using the FireFox browser with the NoScript add on. It automatically disables all of those extras sites that seem to be prevalent when surfing the web. I frequently see google sites on the list of what it blocks automatically.Re: miles driven per day?I usually plan 400-500 miles per day, though I have done over 700 miles in a day but that was in my SUV without a travel trailer. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips to plan my trips and I've found that if I set the driving speeds settings to slightly above average and schedule a 15 minute stop every 3 hours. This pretty closely parallels my actual driving, so I try to plan a stop +/- an hour of where it suggests stopping for the night. I usually only make reservations for the major destinations that I plan on and I use MSS&T to plan the dates that I expect to arrive. Works well for me.
