Kodiak Is on Van Chassis and has custom Fiberglass House. No over head Bed area and Wet Bath. This is why I consider it a B. I will be purchasing a 2003 Kodiak in a month or so. VXL2000 26 foot. so it you decide on the Kodiak I may be able to help with information once I get mine.Re: Mountaineer 345DBQ vs. Open range 399BHSI own a 392BHS Open Range Roamer which is like the 399bhs but the kitchen is like the 345. PM me for more details on the Open Range.Re: New to Fifth Wheels, Couple QuestionsSee My Signature Picture. Been running Extang tri-fold on my Truck. I have an 8 foot bed, I have never had the 5th wheel touch the cover even in a jackknife situation I was in once.Re: 2010- Open Range, Open RangeI have a 2011 Roamer. 392BHS. Its been a very good 5th wheel. I did have some warranty work done before it went out of the 2 year warranty. I had to full time in mine for 2 years and thru some very cold weather. I never had a frozen line or any problems with it. The 4, 20lb gas tanks and the recirculating heating system works well. It is a true 4 season camper. Mine going up for sale later this year. Been the best camper I have owned.Re: Looking for RV park west of Wash DC near train to cityHere is another West option for you.I used Harper Ferry KOA for a year an a half. Its 10 minutes from Brunswick line MARC trains. You have 2 train stations very close to the CG. Tickets are cheaper in Brunswick than the West Va stops. All Brunswick line trains end at Union Station. Monthly Rate when I was there was $550 plus electric it may be higher now. They are open year around. Here is a link to one in Frederick Md walking distance to MARC Frederick Trains. http://evergreenvillage.myshopify.com/Re: Ford 7.3 owners towing 12,000 lb 5thFord made 2 different F250's in 97, a regular and Heavy Duty. Mine is the HD. Truck scale info from memory. Door Sticker GVWR 8800lbs. Scaled Weight on Cat scale. a couple pounds over 6K, it was full of fuel, Reese 16K hitch in bed, Westin Step Bars installed, and myself. My Ford owners manual list GCWR at 20K with 4:10 gearing. I don't remember the exact numbers for rear only weight but I did figure out what the payload would have to be to max the tire rating and it was 3200lbs. I have not made any suspension changes running stock setup. The truck has never squatted below level in the rear with the trailer I have. This is a 4X2 truck and the spring pack looks different than the F250HD 4X4 trucks I have seen. The rear end in this truck is Ford Corporate, when I had the rear wheel bearing changed my mechanic friend had to have NAPA bring out 4 sets before they could get the right ones. The ones that fit were also listed for smaller dual wheel buses and similar trucks.Re: Ford 7.3 owners towing 12,000 lb 5thI am very happy in that way mine tows. I have open Air intake, 5 Inch MBRP exhaust with larger down pipe. TS 6 position Chip set set on 50HP. Truck was upgraded from 3:55 to 4:10 gearing. Aeroforge Gauge to monitor all vital settings Heaviest my trailer was was 12,200 on one trip scaled. I am under all my max weight ratings for this combination. I get solid 19 to 20 mpg running unloaded. No Motor modifications have been done, Its stock with 240K miles on it now.Re: Under belly diagramYou might be able to get a diagram from the Factory but considering the mass production some lines and wiring may be laid differently. Once you open it up you will know the layout of everything on your camper.Re: Open Range vs North PointI also have an early model my layout is close to what you are looking at. My OR had some issues what were taken care of fast and any parts needed came to dealer very fast under warranty. You can check my posts. I made a detailed report about it. I also full timed in mine for 2 years and thru 2 very cold winters here in my area. I never had a freeze up and it performed very well. Everything in mine still looks and works like new. I plan to go to small motor home soon so I will have to let mine go. I will miss it I am sure.Re: return air on fifth wheelThe only 5th wheels I have ever seen with a return so to speak of is the Open Ranges. This allowed the heat pumped into the underbelly to vent back into the utility area allowing underbelly circulation the vent was in the bathroom. I can say this works very well on my OR. I Full Timed in it 2 years ago thru 2 very cold winters with only a 600watt heater in the utility area that was wired to a 45 degree switch. It did not run much and was there for insurance. I had someone that came in for one week and had an Alpenlite 5th wheel and froze up good for 2 days. Depending on where the Electrical Breaker box is the slotted step vent is for its cooling fans or venting heat from it. This what mine is for in the OR. All combustion air is pulled in from outside. I have never seen a direct return line in and RV connected to the heater, only output lines.
