After setup and allowing for the batteries to top off charge, the total load when running both air conditioners is 24 amps. I could only run one with the non-heat pump air conditioners. When the residential frig starts, I see a momentary peak at 29 amps and then settles down to 26 amps. I turn off one air conditioner to run microwave or other major appliance.Re: Diesel fuel filter priming pumpI added the CAT priming pump to my C-7. First I replace the primary fuel filter/water separator and then pump until hard to pump. Start engine. Second replace secondary fuel filter (CAT 2 micron) and then pump until hard and start engine. No problems.Re: Opinions on Travel Assist Insurance DownTheAvenue wrote: In the case of a medical emergency, the FMCA benefit returns dependents, pets, and the RV home, which is a nice benefit included in membership fees. It does not, however, offer any benefit to return the person with a medical issue. Be sure to keep this distinction in mind. Sorry to disagree, but FMCAssist is a repatriation insurance that is include in your FMCA dues. It does provide for return of remains or return if you are incapacitated due to medical emergency if you are 100 miles from home. Full timers are considered to be 100 miles from home. It does not pay medical bills.Re: Roadmaster base plate install is done.I have installed Roadmaster on 4 different autos. First time took 6 hours the last only took three. I have found that their instructions to be very clear and complete. It takes much longer to wire the brake, turn singles and tail lights. Regarding the reference to the cross bar, I remove mine when we are home at a location where we will be staying more than a couple of days. I leave the tow bar on the motor home and store the cross bar. Only 4 pins to remove. Very easy and simple.Re: Traveling from Michigan to Arizona in late NovemberWe have traveled to Surprise, AZ every year since 2002. When heading toward AZ, we take I70 to I44 to the Kilpatrick Tollway around Oklahoma City to I40 to I17 to 303 loop to Surprise. At Effingham, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, and Albuquerque; I check several weather apps on my iPhone to check weather. Once at Amarillo there was a sign that the Texas-NM line was closed due to ice in NM, so we turned south and went through El Paso. Another time Flagstaff showed clear. When we got to Surprise the TV said that El Paso had 11 inches of snow. April first returning home, Albuquerque got 7 inches of freezing slush. Going south adds 200+ miles to the trip. Plan your route and check weather frequently.Re: FMCA IndThere is a BP station on the southwest corner of the intersection of 38th street and Fall Creek Blvd. Probably lowest price in the near by area of the fairgrounds. The Indiana State Fairgrounds is on the northwest corner of the same intersection.Re: Best gas card/cc benefitsWe use a PenFed Visa charge card that give 5 percent back on all fuel purchased where you pay at the pump and 1 percent on other purchases. If I go to Pilot/Flying J, I get 3 cents off with their RV card and then 5 percent back by charging on the PenFed Card. So in our area that would be 14 cents off the pump price.Re: Harney CoachWe had a 1999 Harney Coach Renegade. I found that I had to replace about 4 of the single line water valves on the manifold every year. I replaced all by building an all copper manifold with brass valves. Problem fixed. Also, had to replace the main 12 volt power relay 3 times. Buy a spare and keep on hand for repair. While many auto part stores will have relays that look similar they are not continuous duty. Many Harneys had side wall delamination issues particularly on the slide out. Check for bulges on all the side walls. We found that the CAT 3126E engine to be very good. No repairs other normal maintenance. 10.6 - 10.8 mpg running 65-70 mph on interstate driving. Never went below 10 mpg even in the mountains.Re: 30 amp with a/c units? Both of my air conditioners are heat pumps; therefore, the load of both running on high cool is 22 amps. I have an additional 2 amps load. Probably to maintain charge on batteries. My residential refrigerator adds another 3 amps when starting, but drops off. I cannot run electric water heater even with one of the air conditioners turned off, so I heat water with LPG.Re: Improving Cell Phone SignalI purchased a Wilson WeBoost 470103 from Solid Signal. Could not see an improvement. Called Solid Signal, and they had me call Wilson. The Wilson tech had me set my iPhone to 4G, not LTE and to show db level, not bars. I had -95db. The lower the number the better. The tech said that to be effective that the signal needed to be -85db or less, smaller number. Also, stated that Solid Signal should have told me that when I ordered and to return it which I did. Because the unit would work with a good signal, Solid Signal charge me about $30 restocking charge even though the unit I purchased was the one recommended by them.
