I've seen many people recommend a State Park near Cottonwood to camp at and then drive the toad for sightseeing around Sedona. When I drive up to Flagstaff, I like to go back home by way of Oak Creek Canyon despite the heavy traffic. Although I've yet to try them, friends of mine recommend the Pink Jeep Tours. I have no issue with letting someone else do the driving. There is a great little Mexican food restaurant in Sedona in Hillside shopping center on AZ 179 (heading back toward I-17, it will be on the left) called Javelina Cantina. They get a fair amount of business but I've never had a problem getting a table there, the food and service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. Stay away from Oaxaca Grill in Sedona. The food is ok but the tables are crowded together, the service is less than stellar, and the prices are astronomical. December weather is varied. Sedona rarely gets snow anymore but, when it does, it is beautiful up on top of the red rocks and the rim. I rarely lasts through the morning on the ground when it does reach the ground. Seeing the Grand Canyon as a day trip from Sedona may be a bit ambitious and snow definitely can be an issue. There is a steam powered train that runs from Williams up on I-40 to the Grand Canyon and you can make arrangements to spend the night at a hotel at the Canyon, then return by train to Williams the next day. Williams doesn't get as much snow as Flagstaff. Sedona itself is an over glorified tourist trap now but the surrounding area is well worth visiting. I live down in the Phoenix area so it makes for a nice day trip. Before I became too old and decrepit, I used to do a lot of day hikes and mountain climbing in the area.Re: eBay Shipping Notifications Dictionary Naio wrote: YOUR PACKAGE HAS SHIPPED == Seller has printed a shipping label at home and might take your package to the shipper pretty soon. The one that really p*ssed me off: I bought a cell phone charger and paid more for one that was listed as located in, and shipped from, the same state I was in. I needed it quickly. I never got it because the REAL ship-from location was overseas, I was gone before it arrived, local post office does not forward overseas mail, yadda yadda. I buy ebay stuff from china all the time. It's faster than stuff from the east coast of the US, usually. But when I pay a premium for local shipping it's because I want goldarned local shipping. If an eBay vendor uses eBay's software to generate a shipping label, eBay will immediately automatically send a notice saying the package has been shipped. I've had vendors generate a shipping label (mostly Chinese vendors) before they even have pulled the item. On many occasions I've had vendors (all Chinese arbitrageurs except for one Israeli arbitrageur) create a shipping label and when I questioned them why the item hadn't been received by the carrier several days later, they all claimed "their warehouse was out of stock". Many Chinese "vendors" will take your money and even claim to have shipped an item but it will never show up. Usually, those "vendors" (I have other names for them but Mama told me not to use those words) will show a shipping time of over four weeks. I avoid Chinese vendors like the plague now. I also avoid any vendors that do not a specific shipping location (they usually just say USA or Multiple Locations, USA) or something similar). Those are usually arbitrageurs or vendors that have their orders fulfilled by Amazon (have Amazon warehouse, pull, pack, and ship the item) and charge more than that vendor charges on Amazon. Btw, an arbitrageur, in this context, is a lying, low life piece of work that lists another company's merchandise as his own, takes your money (plus some more to line his pocket), then turns around and orders the merchandise from the real vendor and the order dropped shipped to you.Re: eBay Shipping Notifications Dictionary SCVJeff wrote: Beef it with eBay, if it's significant money they will broker a resolution for you. That's false advertising and a negative review is like Kryptonite to those sellers. I have never not been refunded for bad or wrong merchandise It's pretty much impossible to complain to eBay anymore.Re: eBay Shipping Notifications Dictionary MEXICOWANDERER wrote: YOUR PACKAGE HAS SHIPPED Your payment cleared YOUR PACKAGE IS ON THE WAY We are wrapping it IN TRANSIT Shipper has been notified to pick up package... That's pretty close to the truth!Re: Want roof reseal in ArizonaIn would go with the RV Armor company in Mesa. I've seen a lot of good comments from people who have had their roofs done with that process.Re: The Rv 10 Commandments korbe wrote: Still trying to figure out what "Thine" means....... It, along with "thy" is Early Modern English (which dates back to the late 14th or early 15th centuries) for "your". Thy is used when the word following it starts with a consonant and thine is used when the word following it starts with a vowel. Examples: Thy head. Thine eye.Re: DaschundThey will grow up in five or six years. Doxies are a lot of fun but they are high energy and demanding of your attention. I used to babysit a dachshund and, though I loved the little guy to death (and he me), I had to learn how to deal with his high energy and tendency to quickly get bored. Overall, he was a lot of fun!Re: Rt 89A Flagstaff to Sedona RoyB wrote: Just did a SNIP from google maps showing the loop-backs at OAK CREEK VISTA on 89A... I need the practice snipping views from google earth maps... It's not quite CLICK CLICK yet for me to do this... OAK CREEK VISTA Google Maps Image Roy Ken Although an excellent view of the hairpin turns, what the areal view doesn't show are the 7% grades. Those can be brake killers even if you downshift a couple of gears and crawl down.Re: Rt 89A Flagstaff to SedonaI do NOT recommend driving anything larger than a crew cab pickup truck on that road due to the steep grade and hairpin turns. It's a pretty drive so take it in a toad but do not drive an RV into Oak Creek Canyon from either end (turn around space is almost non-existent). You would be better off taking I-17 south from Flagstaff to 179. Even that one can be a little bit tricky because of the stupid roundabouts that have become the rage here in AZ the last few years (I would love to get my hands on the morons who made that idiotic decision).Re: Crimper Stripper with METRIC screw cutters MEXICOWANDERER wrote: I agree. But it's unique. Unlike the "Hunt Brothers Guide To Capital Income Engorgement"* the price lure may be stronger than an inability to cut multiple small metrics rapidly. One length screw inventory is mighty tempting. *Buy up 100% of available product at 100% then demand 400% Darned right it's tempting. I can't buy Phillips head black oxide 6-32 and 4-40 screws locally, despite living in a megalopolis, so I ordered 100 each of long pan head and flat head screws in each size and just cut them to length as needed with my crimper/stripper/screw cutter. I need to look into getting a similar screw cutter that can handle small metric sizes since I recently bought 100 long M3 flat head screws.
